Thoroughly enjoyed this hike. It might have been boring had it not been for the weather. This was my first time hiking in significant rain. Fog at the trailhead and stared straight into nothingness from the scenic view at the summit. It was really entertaining to see just a wall of white from the summit. The heavy rain caused a good trickle to form for the last half mile from the hotel ruins to the summit. It was a lot of fun testing the boots out in it.

Climbed up the fire-tower steps around dusk and although the hike is on a gravel road and not enjoyable at all, I loved the view from the top. I liked looking into Vermont's Green Mountains and also enjoyed doing a altitude comparison with the water tower that was to the north. I also liked looking out at the small town with the sky turning all shades of pink and purple. Hard to beat the effort to payoff ratio here.

Goodman has some cool history at the trailhead. I did make a mistake when looking at the Tupper Lake Triad flyers distributed locally. The distances on the flyers are all one-way and considering I didn't plan to do this mountain and don't have cell service up there, I didn't anticipate it being as long as it was. Was still ok, but I didn't like making that mistake. It was really buggy on the paved road and as soon as you enter the dirt trail as well, but got better towards the top. The view was great and there were 50 or so dragonflies circling at the top of the summit. Some butterflies too. I enjoyed that and also enjoyed all the dogs that were accompanying their owners on the trail.

I believe this is the best trail of the Tupper Lake Triad. Even without a fire-tower, I felt like this had the most surprising summit views. Also, the summit is pretty large and clear, so even if there were a lot of people, I don't think it would feel crowded. Don't miss this trail, it's really great.

Was a really easy hike. Note that there's a bit of a false summit with some signs warning not to get too close to the edge. After this point, although the trail on the ground is clearly visible, I felt like a trail marker was missing. The summit is only two minutes or so past the false summit, so continue further. On the way back, I took a separate, manicured path that was really nice. Ended up coming out near the basketball courts.

One of the more well-done summits. Nice bench to enjoy the view from the top, I think it faced South. Lots of lakes and rivers to see from the firetower. The fire-tower was especially nice because it has a guide to all of the surrounding mountains within view on the walls of the cab atop the firetower. It was nice to see someone working at the ranger's cabin with his large dogs who could tell us about FOMA and the history of the mountain. I was also very happy to find out Mt. Arab is part of the tupper lake triad. I've earned my first patch.

So hard, didn't think I would make it. Seriously there were times during this trail's steep parts where I questioned if I wanted to climb more mountains. Ultimately, it ended up encouraging me to get in better shape. Now I know how tough mountains can be. It's strange that Kane is rated Moderate/Difficult, but Blue is not. I would think this is a difficult mountain.

Nice, open trail. One steep section that we took too fast. Took the Yellow 1.2 mi route. Largest fire tower we've seen so far, but it was also in the best shape we've seen. It was a very large space for the summit, didn't exactly feel like a summit, but more of a clearing in the woods. Great 180 degree views from the tower.

Side note: There isn't a sign at the Schoolhouse Rd trailhead. Had to go to the Green Lake trailhead.
