Moderately challenging hike with a rewarding view at the reservoir. Well worth the 3 mile ascent with a decent incline gain throughout. Trail was clear with very little mud, no snow.

Nice hike to a great view of Durango. If you go clockwise the first 1 1/2 miles you'll eat up most of the 1,500 foot incline. Be ready to work! Well worth it.

Nice moderate hike to a great view at the peak! We started at sunrise, summited and got back down in under 2 hours. You will gain most of the elevation through the woods with switch backs in the first mile, then the trail is less steep and you will be rewarded with views. My favorite part was walking along the ridge with a great view to the north. Plenty of wildlife, we saw deer, marmots, squirrels, and tons of wildflowers. Right off the highway too!

Hiked at sunrise and made it to the summit in 2 1/2 hours. The trail is easy to moderate until you see a big cairn above tree line. From there it is a hard climb to the top, the last 1/2 mile was steep bouldering until the summit. The grind to the top is well worth it. The views are truly humbling. I was able to summit with no gear and tennis shoes, but hiking boots would have been nice. Even if you don't plan on making it to the top, there is a very nice look out view just above treeline. We also saw a pack of 15 big horned sheep halfway up the peak. So cool!!
