I just added this particular route to Alltrails. According to Gaia and my wifes phone app it is 6.9 miles but Alltrails automatically plugs in 6.6 miles. Bottom line is that this is an easy flat trail and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. As a hiker I can say this is the prettiest trail that I'll never hike again. Bikers take over this trail and as a hiker it's a nightmare. We had to step off the trail every 30 seconds for a biker. Although it's a multi use trail the bikers operate as though they own it. They literally run you off the trail and expect you to jump off the trail as they barrel through. I was just trying to make it out of there without being critically injured. Eventually I just starting hiking off the trail. If your a mountain biker then I'd imagine you'd love this place. For me and other hikers.... it's a shame we can't enjoy this beautiful place.

Made Summit 3/24/18. Microspikes highly recommended. Some ice/snow covered steep sections going up and then of course soft and slippy stuff going down. A few small sections up high where you'll post hole 6+ inches but the sections are short so snowshoes are not needed. For now (until that area gets new snow) there is a clear path or trench established by hikers all the way to the trails end at the high ridge below the summit. At the trails end you'll hike left and boulder hop/scramble up to the true summit (class 2+). for someone used to summits above treeline this is quick, easy, & rewarding. For someone not used to going off trail to scramble to a summit, this is good beginner introduction. I was hiking heavy and slow (bc I carried more gear than needed) but the hike only took me a total of 3 hrs 45 mins round trip (including 25 mins on the summit) from the winter closure gate (lower parking lot right off Hwy 7).

As far as front range/foot hills hikes go... this one's among my favorites. Id put this one behind some of the boulder group climbs like Bear or South Boulder Peaks but ahead of many others. Be careful on the meadow trail as I accidentally got off trail pretty close to the TH twice. It's faint and has many social trails branching off. the greyrock trail is excellent all the way. I wouldn't consider this one hard but just a very nice workout. Took me 3.5 hrs for the total loop including at least 30 mins relaxing and enjoying the summit. I definitely recommend this one!
