Mary Kolbenschlag reviewed Doudy Draw and Spring Brook Loop Trail

Because it’s one of the few mountain bike trails, I avoid it and let them have it to themselves. Much better hiking trails about a mile into the Eldorado canyon.

A frequent favorite! Nice incline, good workout! beautiful high meadows, forest paths, a bridge over a creek. We’ve seen wildlife (moose, bear, rattle snakes, other snakes, squirrels). Raspberry bushes next to the little creek you cross.

Nice walk - no shade. Beautiful view of front range. Keep dogs on leash- they do fine you if you don’t.

Love it! You can see the mountain climbers most days. Feels like you are miles away from civilization. It is a busy trail but we often go after work and frequently don’t see many hikers. There are rattle snakes and wildlife. I’ve seen bear, deer, moose and snakes several times.

Nice trail, lake was covered by lily pads. A lot of dead fallen trees surround lake. Saw a mom moose and her baby at a small lake about half way.

Nice trail with beautiful fall aspen colors. Fairly flat. Several mountain bikers use the trail but were courteous when passing. Others saw a moose.

We clocked over 10 miles, so I'm not sure where the 7.2 miles came from. It is a beautiful hike. We started at 8:30 am and got to the top at noon.
it was chilly but due to the strenuous climb it felt great. We took the tramway down. It was $15/person

Great on cloudy days. But storms come in fast so watch for them. Some water in the creek. Busy on holidays. Wear footwear that doesn't slip because you are frequently walking on rocks.

You feel like you are away from the city on this trail. It's fun seeing the mountain climbers on the way in and there's a welcome soak in the hot springs pool afterwards. The remains of the old hotel make you stop and wonder what the stagecoach ride would have been like from the train you pass.. I Love this one. The stream is chilly from the mountain snow cap run off and we dipped our feet in and could hardly stand it :)

The lake is definitely worth the hike. Gorgeous! We saw a moose in the water and that was a treat. It is a longer hike, 7.4 miles total with an initial gradual elevation gain, then steeper down hill to reach the lake (and then back again). Take extra water and a light snack. There is a ground fed stream that feeds into the lake and we replenished our water. Not sure yet if we will regret it, but it seemed safe.

Hiked on 9/27/15. Slightly past the peak fall colors but still BEAUTIFUL. The weather is perfect. Lesson learned..Should have taken a snack, could have used the little boost at the end. Wear sturdy shoes, there are a ton of rocks on the trail. Saw a mother moose and her calf...what a treat.
