Left the car around 6AM and got back to the car a bit before 9AM. Based off my watch, ~8 miles were done. The trek up is the most strenuous of the hike with some sections more steep than others and parts of the trail providing flat land for your legs to catch a breather. Took 1.5L water bag, a large Gatorade, ate a granola bar, two clementines, and half a pop tart. Did not finish all the fluids because the fog that was present made it cool and got occasional sunlight, but I would bring the same amount of fluids if I were to do this trail again to still be safe. Beautiful views basically all around, especially at the top. Worth doing, definitely a good work out and training trail!

This was one of the most difficult trail hikes we have done, but the view at the top is worth it. Recommend to keep hydrated and pack enough food to get you by for 6-9 hours. Dehydration, overheating, and exhaustion was very prominent when we went 6/23/19. There were a lot of hikers on the trail that were having a hard time, please take breaks when you need it. This is the only trail where we had to take multiple quick breaks in order to cool our bodies down. The first 1/4 and 3/4 of the trail are steep switchbacks with slick rocks covered in sand, which can do some damage if you’re not careful. This trail taught us multiple good lessons: be prepared, have a lot of food/water, dig deep, listen to your body, make friends on the trail, pass along good words/motivation and enjoy the moment. I would do this trail again and would only recommend for experienced/athletic hikers.
