I love this trail. It is rated Moderate per Charlie Wing's Backroad Trails book. Toward the end, there were a few spots with some more difficult ledges but not bad if you take it slow and easy. We did it in our own stock unlimited Rubicon with 33s. The 4wd road splits off toward the cabin at about 2 1/2 mi from the trailhead. After visiting the cabin, we headed further along on route 152 to hike to Vultee Arch. The on-foot hike is only about a mile and a half to the arch from the road and is very easy, but we made it only halfway because of a medical issue. We also saw two tarantulas in the middle of the trail along the way where a lot of leaves had fallen. I expect there were many more! I almost stepped on one! I know they don't really do much to humans but I don't care...they creep me out nonetheless! Next time, we'll make it to the arch...as long as I can tolerate the monster spiders.

We did our own Jeep tour of Broken Arrow. It's the second trip along this trail I've done but somehow it seemed a little more difficult this time, even though I had bigger tires. Maybe it was the stress of having the whole fam damly in the Jeep this time! It is rated difficult for 4x4 but isn't overwhelming. The Devil's Staircase obstacle is an optional part of this trail. We did this also for the second time. This time I scraped bottom a lot more than last year going down the staircase. I have a stock Rubicon unlimited with 33" toyo R/Ts. You can bypass the stairs if you like. Other than scraping, they aren't that bad if you take it slowly. However, one Pink Jeep tour operator did show me some cell phone pics of a rescue they did of a privately-owned Jeep that had rolled over on that obstacle only a month prior. I asked what he thought went wrong and he said he thought the guy went "too far to the right." My guess is he probably tried to avoid scraping by riding on top of the rocks instead of in the tracks on the slickrock and got too high on one side. My advice is to just stick to the tracks even though you'll bottom out some.

There is another obstacle that I've seen most privately-owned Jeeps blast right by that I also wouldn't have noticed unless someone had pointed it out to me. I call it the Pink Jeep Rock because those were the only Jeeps I saw going down it. There is a ledge that is about three feet or so high a short distance before the staircase. There are lots of ledges on this trail but this one stands out a bit because you need to goose it some to get over it. Right before the ledge, about 50 feet maybe, there is a rock on your left that the Pink Jeeps go down regularly. In fact, while standing on Submarine Rock, you can see the Jeeps in the distance going down what seems to be a steep hill...this is the rock. It's very easy to miss. It makes a very short extra loop, so you'll go over that ledge again when you finish the rock. I'd recommend watching one of the pink jeeps do it before going over it. When you're on top of it, it looks like you're going to fall off the edge of the world! It'll make your passengers pee a little when they realize you're going FORWARD! To me, it was more exhilarating than the staircase.

All in all, this is the best 4 wheeling trail in Sedona, in my opinion.

By the way, we stayed at the Junipine Resort a little north of Sedona along Oak Creek. It was absolutely fantastic for the money. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Trail is rated moderate but it definitely gets a little tricky and tippy in spots. Just enough to make it challenging and fun but not overwhelming for a capable rig. We did it in a stock 4dr Jeep. We saw a few large/long pickup trucks having some trouble with the tippy spots. As long as you have good ground clearance, you'll be fine. Just take it slow and easy.

It winds along a creek in Jacoby Canyon. It's very peaceful and pretty. We started at the Doble Mine site off 3N16 and popped out on the 18.

A must-see. Easy, short sand wash that ends overlooking badlands. View is spectacular, especially at sunset. I wouldn't recommend this for 2wd vehicles as it's very easy to get bogged down in the soft sand.

Air down your tires to make the washboard much more tolerable and easier on the car. Normally mine are set at 37 psi cold. I air them down to at least 28 while hot. It makes a huge difference in not only the comfort of the ride but the amount of traction through the sand. You can air back up in Borrego Springs which is a short drive back from Font's Point. Just drive a little slower on the pavement than you normally would.

Great 4wd trail. Somewhat difficult but not too hard. You'll want good ground clearance and good articulation. The most recent time we've done this trail, it was considerably more washed out than the previous times, making it a little more challenging. There were large ruts we had to straddle and the shelf road is sometimes very narrow because of becoming partially washed out.

There is a steep section that is a little more difficult but not that bad.

The scenery going in and out is amazing. Take time at the end of the trail to hike around the area. It was extremely windy each time we've been there.

We exited via Palm Wash and popped out near the Salton Sea. That was an easy and pleasant drive but to get to the wash was a little exciting. To get to it, you drop down a steep section into a canyon from Calcite Road. Once you're in, it's easy. It's a pretty drive before and during sunset.

Nice drive through desert. Recommend 4wd and high ground clearance but it's an easy drive. There is one somewhat rocky area up a moderately steep section but it isn't a challenge for a Jeep. I did most of the trail in 2wd.

I went in March and it was god-awful hot, about 97. That's why I marked the conditions as "fair." There were so many flies it was intolerable. I drove with the windows up and the AC cranked high.

There was no water in any of the crossings when I was there in March. Also, it seemed like the trail was moved so that it wouldn't pass through or over the water (if there were any) as it seems to have done in the past.

Beware that this is a seasonal trail. It usually is closed from June through September but the dates can change depending on the water level.

Moderate 4wd trail in Corral Canyon OHV Park. Interesting and fun to drive. Great scenery and views. You'll want some decent ground clearance. We scraped bottom a few times in a stock Rubicon. Brush is tight.

Sidenote: We stopped at a little diner in Pine Valley just off the 8 on the way out to the trail. It's called Major's Café. Their pancakes are heavenly and I'm not even a fan of pancakes.

More of a workout than a hike. Extremely busy on weekends. Parking also extremely limited. Be prepared to park on street; no permits required for parking. Restrooms at bottom of mountain. I'm out of shape and overweight and had difficulty getting up the whole thing but I made it by taking several breaks. The terrain on the trail isn't all that interesting but the views midway up and at the top are awesome. At the top, it was disappointing to see empty water bottles overflowing the garbage cans by the hundreds. Also, most of the dogs on the trail were not leashed the day I was there. After having been bit a couple times in the past, I'm terrified to encounter them on a trail no matter how friendly their owners say they are. I think it's extremely inconsiderate of dog owners to put others in that position but they seem to care more about their dogs being able to run free than the rights of others.

Great hike. The best part is the last part near the canyon and dry falls. Perfect place to stop for lunch before heading back out. There are some larger rocks to climb over and it's easy to brush up against cacti so I'd suggest wearing long pants and really watching your footing. The soft sand in several spots makes this a little more challenging to hike through, but easily doable.
