Marissa Kanon reviewed Sunset Point to Sunrise Point

The views along this trail are so pretty! It’s a bonus that you can bring your fur balls, too! I’ll be back in warmer weather to enjoy it a bit longer.

Easily my favorite trail in the park. I hiked this with my pup two weeks ago and loved it! It’s pretty easy and not very far distance wise. There are so many places to stop and take pictures of the views. The only downside is that we lost the trail and wandered a bit(not marked super well and most the ground was snow covered). I would hike this again in warmer weather!

There isn’t much elevation change-but it sure is a pretty walk with views all around. The name of the trail is fitting and it’s well marked. You can also bring dogs and the terrain isn’t rough at all.. my pup sure enjoyed getting out!

Hardly a “hike”. But rather a really pretty and easy walk over to the arch.

I hiked through this canyon two weekends ago with my dog. It was SO awesome. We didn’t go all the way because my dog kept getting nervous and she was sliding on some of the rocks. I would probably bring some booties for her paws next time. There wasn’t any water to walk through which was a bonus(would’ve been so cold!) but it was so pretty and not overly crowded. I’ll be going back when the weather is warmer!

This trail was moderate, the only thing that made it difficult was the snow/ice. You end up sliding all over on the steep climbs because it’s so iced over. Pretty views all the way up and covered in shade. I would love to do this hike in the summer months so it’s not so cold. We did the loop up Thayne’s and down Desolation. Once we started our descent, we came across a fairly large black bear just off the trail-so watch out. Really cool to see him from a distance though. Would recommend to friends

I absolutely loved this hike! Hiked it a week ago. Started at 7am right as the sun was coming up.. it was 33 degrees! Saw a lot of deer on the drive up and on the start of the trail. Fall colors everywhere and beautiful lakes. Fish lake at the top is very empty and not as pretty as the two below. Overall a moderate hike-I wouldn’t say any of it was too challenging. I’ll be hiking this again

Marissa Kanon reviewed Mount Timpanogos Trail from Aspen Grove

We went up last Saturday. We hiked the first hour or two with headlamps because we started in the dark. Plenty of parking when we got there and a steady climb with breathtaking views all the way up. Managed to find some mountain goats. The only two complaints I have are the amount of people and that you have to hike just short of a mile across a boulder field-it hurts your feet! Will be trying the Timpanogee trail next time.

I loved this hike. We decided after hiking a lot of really tough, long hikes that we wanted something mellow. This is perfect. A sense of accomplishment without killing yourself. Started at 7 this morning and we were back to the car before 11(it took us a while because there was a cow(mama) moose and two calves right on the trail and we also got rained on and had to wait out the storm). There was a ton of wildlife and really pretty views. I would rate this as easy!

The hike from silver lake up to silver glance is pretty steep in some areas and it bites! But definitely worth the extra distance to get away from crowds and have lunch.

Hiked this last weekend and it was hot! After the first 1/4 mile, the trail is pretty exposed so try to hike early! The dirt road to get to the parking lot is pretty rough if you have a passenger car. The hike itself is fairly easy.. however, if you choose to hike up to silver glance lake from silver lake.. it climbs 800 feet in 3/4 of a mile so it does take it out of you! Otherwise very pretty and a lot of places to relax around the lake.

This isn’t too much of a hike.. it’s always busy and so many people get injured trying to climb the rocks and up to the falls. Every time I have hiked this to give it another chance, I find myself irritated, so it’s not really worth my time to go again.

This isn’t really a “hike” per say..but more of a nature walk. It is really pretty and you can venture off the paved path onto several other small dirt trails. We came across a bobcat and quite a few wild turkeys which was really cool. There’s not shade everywhere so it’s best to walk this earlier in the day.

Dog lake was a really nice hike. It wasn’t too long or too brutal and the lake itself is full of dogs..so how can you not enjoy that?! A little bit of a climb toward the end but nothing too crazy. Would do this again if I wanted a smaller hike.

This trail is one of my go-to trails because it’s close to home. I love that it loops so that you don’t go back the same way you came. There’s always quite a few horseback riders and mountain bikers so it’s not for you if you’re really looking to get away! I wish there was more water toward the top because it’s pretty dry and hot this time of year. Would recommend!

Marissa Kanon reviewed Gobblers Knob via Alexander Basin Trail

Hiked this today and this hike was definitely a challenge... it didn’t waste anytime making you climb 3,000 feet. Once you get out of the dense canopy/trees, you have awesome views of the mountains down below. Once you get to the basin, there’s a ton of pretty wildflowers. The view from the top made it well worth it-360 view of everything down below. Would recommend for average-above average hikers.

Marissa Kanon reviewed Beartrap Fork Trail

Hiked this on 7/14/18. This trail was extremely beautiful and serene. I descended down this trail after hiking up mill d trailhead to desolation lake. There were so many meadows with wildflowers and it was canopy with a lot of shade. I didn’t run into any other hikers.. but did run into a bear about 20-30 feet off the trail. He was aware that we were there and let us pass without any issues but please be aware of this!

Marissa Kanon reviewed Red Pine Lake Trail

This is easily my favorite hike I’ve done in little cottonwood so far. It is so pretty all the way up with some pretty great views of the valley/canyon road below. The lake itself is so serene and there’s a ton of places around it for pictures and relaxing. It can get breezy up there which makes it cold if you’re all sweaty, so bring a light jacket! There were a quite a few people in hammocks! We decided to extend our hike and ascent up over the large rocks to another lake above(the rock scrambling was pretty strenuous). The views from above of Red Pine also made this extra mile worth it. I will be back to hike the white pine trail here soon!

Marissa Kanon reviewed Grandeur Peak East Trail from Church Fork

This hike had some pretty incredible views! The only thing that bothered me was how much exposure you get to the sun in some areas.. so I would suggest hiking this pretty early to avoid the heat. We didn’t see any wildlife.. but the views made up for that. We also managed to lose the trail in one area where there’s a sharp turn, but there’s also another trail going straight at the same point.. if you end up scrambling up sliding red rocks, you’re going the wrong way haha

Marissa Kanon reviewed Lake Desolation Mill D North Trail

This hike was the perfect challenge. 9 Miles RT and 2,500 elevation gain. It gradually climbed and was flat in some areas. Beautiful meadows and wildflowers everywhere. We hiked to desolation lake, up on top of the ridge and across.. I believe that’s the crest trail-and there’s beautiful views of park city on one side and desolation lake on the other side. We descended down bear trap fork. If you go early, you will see a ton of wildlife. We came across a bear going down bear trap right off the side of the trail(so be aware). This hike was amazing and we will be back!
