Nice short hike. We took the road up which was far more steep than the trail would have been. We took the trail back down. Gorgeous views from the top of the Fire Tower. Easy to get to. Small but sufficient parking lot with Conservation signing that explains the trails and wildlife.

This is a great park. There is a lot to do for families and people who just want to get out in nature. Hike trails through the woods and along the shore. Learn about local nature with the informational boards throughout the park. There is a large field for playing pass with a group or use the picnic areas that are tucked around the park for lunch or dinner. Restrooms and water fountains and trash barrels make things easier to stay for the full day. There is a great covered group setting area for group events. Short trails and relatively easy for most including pets on leash though many sections have stairs or significant exposed roots so some dexterity is needed. Beautiful in all seasons though you'll likely be snowshoeing in the winter. :)

Love this hike. It's overall an easy hike with a few steeper inclines. The trail itself is predominantly a rough tarred road with some hard packed dirt sections. The overlook at the summit is beautiful on a clear day as you view marsh tributaries down to the ocean. The beach at the end can be walked all the way to Popham Beach but beware of high tide as it can cut you off from a return. The main trail also can be overrun when the tide comes in though it can still be passed. Best to check the tide schedule before the trip. The parking lot holds about 30-40 cars. They will turn you away on busy days. The attendant on Friday said he turned at least 80 cars away the prior Sunday so plan to arrive early on nice summer days. Excellent easy trail for a family. No pets and no facilities so carry in/carry out.
