Super easy trail. Ideal for bringing out of town relatives

A solid intermediate trail. Rocky and not too much shade, except on the back of the loop, where it is very nice. No wildlife.
I did it on a Wednesday at 7 am and only encountered one person on the trail.

Not much of a trail. A little boring for the lack of lake views

Nice open space to walk, run or bike, specially on a cold sunny day, since there are not trees on the trail.
Like always say: please keep your voices down and pick up your trash (and yes, dog’s poop bags are trash). If you don’t, you’re changing the natural habitat of the area.

We did it on Monday 09/09/19.. we got to the parking lot at 7:30 and there was just a few cars (I’m sure on the weekends it’s a different story).
The first part to the Blue Lake its a very rocky intermediate trail. It has elevation gain, but it will give you some flat brakes to catch your breath. We found only one person on the way up, that takes the hike to another level. We saw several Moose and the views are amazing!
Now, the hike to the Little Blue Lake it can not be described as a hike, it’s more appropriate to say rock climbing. The trail it’s almost not existent. Most of the time you’ll have to do a free solo on 4’ or 5’ tall boulders. Definitely not an intermediate trail!
In my opinion, if you’re just hiking stay on the lower lake. If you love to climb, the little one up there it will make your day.
On the way back there was lots of people on the trail. Unfortunately, there were two ladies talking loud all the way down. I don’t understand why they didn’t go to have a beer instead. Trails are NOT a good place to catch up with your friends. Please, let’s respect that...

Very nice trail with lots of trees. About 6 miles loop from parking lot. If you do it clockwise, don’t be fooled with the nice and easy going down of the first half. It gets steep, rocky and sketchy in the second half going back up. It’s an intermediate trail after all.
It’s unfortunate to see so many dog poop bags scattered along the trail. Please, try to stay quiet during the hike and leave no trace. Let’s enjoy nature!

Not really a trail, it’s a concrete path around the lake.

Not much of a trail. Better off doing the 4 mile Genesee Mountain Trail (Easy/Intermediate). Half of that trail it’s ok, but the other half it’s too close to I-70 and traffic noise is bad.

Not much wildlife to see except small birds and insects. It’s a super easy trail, it should be mark accordingly. More a mountain bike than a hiking trail. No trees.

Nice easy trail. Lots of people on weekends. You have to climb some boulders to get to Gross Reservoir.

Nice views of mountains and lake. Muddy in some areas, but it won’t spoil the fun.

Nice and easy city trail. It became my favorite of the area. Lots of trees. Don’t use the bike path, walk on the dirt path to enjoy it more. The whole trail is about 8 miles round trip, but you don’t need to go to Golden, you can always cut it short.
