crazy steep steps, portions are vertical climbs. guides said they were called the "gringo killers." worth it.

day 1- ascent via snow creek trail, camped at snow creek falls ***uhh-mazing spot to sleep under the stars*** (#romanticaf, lol) / day 2- indian rock and north dome, camped at lehamite creek / day 3- descent via upper and lower yosemite falls. ~mother nature gave the gracious gift of beautiful weather during the month of may and spoiled me with various scenery: from the way the granite walls opened up the higher in elevation you climbed; to stunning treelines; to what was left of a winter wonderland with the slight patches of snow at higher elevation; to the way my cup runneth over with the waterfalls~ more solitude. major naturegasms. while clouds rest and half dome trails definitely give you the thrill, snow creek makes you work for those rewards (i found it to have more of a mental aspect), but all equal in the priceless treasures only yosemite can offer.

my legs will be feeling the results of that elevation gain tomorrow! just bummed that the chimney tops pinnacles is still closed off from the 2016 fire damage. should it ever re-open, i will definitely come back.

this hike wasn't originally in my itinerary but since newfound gap road was closed due to snow/ice conditions, this is a great alternative!

a great kickoff hike at the great smoky mountains, especially if you have a late start or are short on time. trail is well marked and maintained, with lots of shade. would highly recommend bringing lunch to enjoy and bask in the stunning scenery. plus, that fuel of energy will help on the incline back up!

you can access the trail behind the visitor's center-- go in the direction of the river and turn right (pass the zion shuttle line) so the river is on your left side. you'll see the signs for pa'rus and watchman trails (you'll pass pa'rus first and cross the street for watchman). good hike that takes ~2 hrs, ending with views of lower zion canyon, oak creek canyon and the town of springdale. it extends to a loop trail but didn't have enough time to venture out as sunset was nearing so i went out back the way i came.
