It has been a long dry summer but that makes for a longer hiking season. Have fun on the trails.

Enjoyed our hike but didn’t go past upper crystal lake because of snow depth. From lower lake to upper has some snow but all 9 of us made it easily without micro spikes. Will be back later in summer so we can get up to the gap.

Easy drive with nice parking lot, restrooms and water. My first desert hike so I got to the trailhead at 06:30 due to the daytime heat. I found it easy with great vistas. The trail had runners, fast hikers, picture takers and everyone was pleasant and I received some good info about other hikes from locals on the trail.

We started our hike from the Pratt Lake trailhead. It was cloudy with some very light snow. We did see an otter pop up onto the ice with his lunch in his mouth. It was a good day for a hike

The last 10 miles of the drive is a pothole filled washboard dirt road but that's what keeps people away. Personally i would not bring kids or dogs because the lookout is close to the edge and it's a long drop over the edge. The hike itself was not to difficult and being this late in the season not much in flowers blooming. I will have to do this hike again because with all the fires in eastern washington the view from the lookout were hazy but still a good day.

I turned this into a longer hike by parking at Paradise hiking the lake trail to get to Pinnacle Peak trail. It was a warm sunny day so bring water. When you get to the saddle you have a view of Mt.Adams. If you have the time follow the trail to the top of the peak. Enjoy the day and view of Mt. Rainier.

The first half of the trail was easy and in good condition but the second half of trail has it's share of snow so good thing I had my poles for a little extra balance. The view is impressive and the base area is a great place for lunch and photos. Bear sightings so keep your eyes opened.

If you don't want to do Mt. Si try this. I think the listed elevation is over doing it, I think it's closer to 1350. Start up the Mount Si trail and go to the second trail maker for Talus loop. The loop trail makes you feel like your in a whole different eco-system compared to the main Mt. Si trail. It was a beautiful day with a view of just the top of Mount Rainier in the distance. Go early and beat the rush.
