Note: this is actually a part of the Douglas Spring Trail. You start at the Douglas Spring Trailhead, and end at the Bridal Wreath Falls. A lot of elevation throughout the trail, walking on steps as you ascend. Beautiful views throughout, with the bonus of seasonal falls at the end.No shade, so bring something to protect your skin. Recommend this hike for scenic views.

Lori Shoaf reviewed Perl Charles Memorial Trail (#1A)

Great urban trail! We actually started with the Perl Charles trail and ended up on 1A. Wildflowers are blooming! There needs to be more signs as some other Phoenix trails have. Some parts of the trail were easy, and some moderate to difficult. Great views of the city, but a little noisy with the 51 nearby. I would definitely return as there are many trails to hike.

Nice hike for those short of time and still want hike. Easy hike with desert views. Meets up with the Go John trail as you head back to the trailhead.

Lori Shoaf reviewed Turnbuckle to Granite Falls to Pyrite to Pyrite Summit Loop

Great hike, especially if you go to the summit. The first part of it, Turnbuckle to Granite Falls was boring as it is mostly flat with typical desert scenery. Once you get more into Granite Falls and onto Pyrite, then you really start climbing. The views are outstanding if you go to the summit. You have 360 degree views from up there. Very peaceful. Once I left the summit and got back to the Pyrite trail, I headed towards the Chuckwalla trail. This will take you back to the trailhead through Granite Falls and finally Turnbuckle. This is a long trail, so make sure you have plenty of water and start early. I would do this trail again.

This was an exhilarating and challenging at the same time. I did this counter clockwise and so glad I did. Actually, I felt like I got the hard stuff out of the way first, and enjoyed my descent down after all the climbing I did. The views are incredible! Don't forget to stop every once in a while and turn around to see the sweeping desert views. Start early as this takes a while to do. Recommend this trail to get your heart pumping and your adrenaline keyed up!

Nice, fun hike for those desert views. A moderate climb, with the switchbacks really making your body work. We did the optional summit climb, a little steep but worth it for the views. Nicely situated park without looking in neighborhoods like other hikes I have been on. Lots of trails here, picnic table areas and clean restrooms. Recommend this place!

This is a nice trail for walking, not hiking. Good views of the buttes around you. Easy, flat path that takes you around the golf course. If you are looking for a place to walk, I would recommend this place. This 5k trail is 3 miles and is a loop. Nice desert views too.

Excellent and easy hike! Very lush forest, peaceful creek you walk through a few times and beautiful scenery every where. It was cloudy when we went and I was afraid the clouds would let loose any time, which it didn't, but it really provided some nice shade for us. There is camping nearby (tent) and an outhouse. Just a short dirt road to the trailhead. You will see the creek at the beginning of the hike and follow it sometimes as well. Family friendly and relaxing. Highly recommend this hike!

Lori Shoaf reviewed Aspen Trail and Marshall Gulch Loop Trail

This is a fun trail to hike, easy with interesting variations with the vegetation. The Marshall Gulch side is very open with some trees and a little creek. The Aspen Trail is true to its name. Beautiful aspens everywhere, nicknamed it the Aspen Forest. There are some young trees growing on both trails, as Summerhaven had a fire some years back. Would still highly recommend these trails. There are connecting trails to these trails if you want to go further. Lots of people and parking is limited. If you park on forest land, make sure you pay the $5 fee as we saw a park ranger giving out tickets when we were there. The fee box is where the trailhead is located. Wonderful hike, picnic areas and Mt. Lemmon has many hiking opportunities.

Great hike and a peaceful memorial for the 19 hotshots that died there. You start out climbing up on the trail, which is narrow. Very windy, with beautiful wildflowers and charred trees left from the fire. Once you get to the observation deck, you can climb down to the memorial, which is worth it. Not too busy for a Saturday. Well marked trail and great views!

Intense trail to hike. Steep in some places, but an easy trail overall. A great cardio workout. The rock formations are beautiful. Jogged a little on the way down, but some of the rock is slippery. Lots of parking available. Very popular as there were plenty of people out there.

Nice, easy trail, with a steady incline. Mostly pine trees, with some aspens. Enjoyed the peaceful scenery and the view of the peaks.
