Much less traveled, trail is great until the meadow then gradually fades and splits numerous times. General rule: stay LEFT on the way up! Stay LEFT of the large stand of 5-10' tall pines on the lower part of the scree field. Look for the cairns. Long slog up the scree slope with loose footing in places and then some easy scrambling. I recommend NOT going alone on this one, and first doing Timp, Pfeifferhorn, Sundial Peak before attempting this difficult climb.

Hiked w/ my 9 yr old son, 2 hrs up, 1 hr down. Well-maintained, heavily travelled trail, smooth and steady climb. Good for serious trail runners (very few rocks/roots). Dog-friendly. Not much of a view until you get to the top. No cell reception until top ridge. You CAN PARK up past the picnic areas but there are ONLY 7 spots at the trailhead. They were all taken on this hot sunny weekday afternoon, but it saves you 0.4 miles.

Good amount of snow, enough for a few short glissades but the steepest sections of trail are now clear to the summit. In my opinion this is the ideal time of year to summit, if you can’t handle a few small snowfields you can hike around almost all of them.
