Linda Brown reviewed 1.5 Mile Resthouse via Bright Angel Trail

We did this one because we were short on time but wanted to get down into the canyon quickly. Great views. Watch out for the fat squirrels on the trail - they want your food and have no problem taking it. Too crowded for us - might be better at a different time of day but we started about 11 am and it was pretty congested. Pretty much straight down then straight back up as far as elevation goes. But we had no problem and we are in our 60’s.

We did this hike to the top and we are in our 60’s. I was nervous about it and had a lot of anxiety but I must say it was not as bad as I imagined. Took us 3 hours round trip from the grotto trailhead. Get to Zion EARLY. Catch one of the first shuttles in the park. The sun was just coming up when we began. The switchbacks are tough but can be done. The parts at the top without chains are a bit scary but doable. Coming down was slow because so many folks were headed up. We both felt a sense of accomplishment when we reached the parking lot. Be prepared for some sore thigh muscles the next day. We hike all the time and did over 80 miles of hikes in 8 days in the Utah parks but we still were sore. So glad we did this one.

We used our gps to guide us to the arch and found it after a few slightly wrong direction turns. Once you make it to the end of Rampart trail then continue on through woods and the wash and follow the canyon rim line. Coming back was easier. Not a single soul to be found on this trail - I guess since there really is no trail - you have to follow the gps on the all trails map. It was our first triple arch and we loved it! Be sure to snap a photo when it first comes in to view on your left because the closer you get to it, the harder it is to get all 3 arches in the shot!

This was an enjoyable hike and some of the formations looked a lot like Bryce NP. Not crowded at all though. Only met a few hikers the whole time. Saw 5 condors overhead as we finished. Nice scenery and an easy hike for us

Loved this hike and yes around every turn - peek-a-boo - you see something new and strangely beautiful! We added on the Bryce point trail and Wall Street at the end (tough) but we would do it again in a skinny minute!

Beautiful trail! We actually added on the Rim trail. Hot day and not much shade and we nearly ran out of water but worth it all to see the amazing beauty around every turn.

Great trail with awesome views at the top. The Mt. peaks in the distance were still snow covered and just beautiful! Had a picnic at the top. Took 45 minutes less time to get back down. Some ascensions to the top can test your heart rate...

Best trail in the park! The Palm trees are huge. Be sure to venture down in to the canyon to get a closer look. The scenery a long the trail to get there is pretty amazing also! Love those rock formations and all the different cacti!

Nice easy hike. Enjoyed all the rhododendron and the beautiful river. Fall color was gorgeous. Only saw a couple of hikers on Cucumber Gap but Little River trail was much busier. Saw several men fly fishing in the river. We really loved this hike.

Nice trail although the continuous incline will get to you by mile 3! Cemetery and stone house paths are not clearly marked and a bit hard to find. The river is beautiful and hiking in early November offered up some beautiful fall foliage. Watch for slippery rocks! My husband slipped and fell flat out - (with only minor sore buns - Lol!)
