Good for a quick after-work weekday hike before sunset. I've also come here before work at sunrise, and it's a generally nice place to hang out. Trail is fairly flat and rocky. It has crossovers so that you can make your hike as long or as short as you want.

Of the hikes in the Scottsdale region, Sunrise trail is one of the best in town. I certainly prefer this to Lost Dog Wash, and even though it's right down the road from that Lost Dog Wash, it feels very different. The trail is way more green/lush.
The trail starts out very easy (many hikers with dogs on leashes) and then gets a bit more moderate with switchbacks. Overall, I would say it's on the easy end of moderate in intensity. There's a scenic point midway, but the views are actually quite nice the whole way through! You get a nice view of the Superstition Mountains to the east. I would do this one again if I wanted to stay in town to hike.

Did this in the rain this time around, but still one of the best trails in Scottsdale. You have a view of the mountains for most of the way up (as opposed to golf courses at the nearby Pinnacle Peak hike). Good quick hike, around 2-2.5 hours round trip.

I guess my main frustration with this trail is that it didn't feel like there was much of a goal-- it's a nice desert walk, with some shade in the later hours of the day, but you're not walking up a mountain, down a canyon, up towards a rock, around a lake, or anything... you're just hiking in the desert. Otherwise it's a nice path, clearly marked, not strenuous at all.

Muddy in mid-February but still had great views at Ooh-Ahh point. Not that strenuous- I think it's about 1 hour down and two hours up!

The trail is well-traveled, well-marked with white paint markings and trail markers. Some parts of the trail are relatively flat while one or two parts involve a little scrambling to get up the rock. Beautiful views at the top and pretty much all the way up! Would not want to do this hike if it has recently rained, as I imagine it would be far too slippery.

This was an easy trail. There are some stairs at the end to get your heart rate up, but you'll be rewarded with nice views at the top! Go early to catch the sunrise.

This was a fantastic hike. Very lightly trafficked-- I did this Memorial Day weekend and only came across one other person. Start early, because it climbs up the south face of the mountain and it gets hot pretty quickly. I started at 7:30 and wished that I had started closer to sunrise simply because of the heat. Either way, this was a very enjoyable hike, with views of the red rocks nearly every point on the way up. The trail becomes greener and flatter near the top. Some parts of the trail are rather rocky, so I would recommend a solid pair of hiking boots, especially for the trip down. Amazing views at the top, after walking through a scorched forest. The only thing I would suggest is that early on the trail, there is a sign that is incorrectly or misleadingly angled. You should take the trail-appearing ... trail on the LEFT, not on the right!

This made for a pleasant autumn hike/walk. I would rate it as easy; very little change in elevation. The trail is shaded and the trees look nice next to the water.
