I started hiking the Land’s End Trail and continued on to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a beautiful day in March and while there were many people at the bridge, the foot traffic was moderate on the trail. Take care as you navigate traffic on some of the surface streets. I think up & back was about 8 to 8 1/2 miles. It is an easy hike/walk and the views are beautiful.

I hiked this trail in July with a group of high school students of different levels of experience with the outdoors. The consensus was that it felt longer than 7.3 miles but it’s worth the effort. Take care crossing the road from the parking lot to the trailhead.
The highlight is jumping into the water and swimming out to the rocks across Lake Dardanelles. I later read that there are leeches but none of us encountered any. Pack plenty of water and snacks and lunch and make a day of it. It’s beautiful.

My first experience hiking here was for a full moon hike several years ago. I recently hiked here again in early August and while I recommend it, it’s the 2nd time I’ve gotten sick after this hike. I’m not certain if it’s the altitude change or inadequate hydration so be aware. I left at 7am and it was chilly, cold at the top due to winds, and hot on the descent so layers are important. The winds on the ascent can be incredibly strong and gusty so use caution. Water and sunscreen are a must. The last bit to the peak took walking through snow and it was fine. The butterflies are quite a spectacle; amazing to see so many swirling around. Minimal to heavy foot traffic.

I like this hike as it is dog friendly. Traffic can range from light to heavy so if you’re a solitary hiker, it’s safe (use your own discretion). I easily found 3 of the 5 lakes but had trouble finding the other two. Sunscreen, a hat, and water are a must. I forgot my water bottle at the house and went ahead and did the full hike and was fine, but I don’t recommend it. I would have explored further had I packed it. My dog had a great time swimming in the big lake. Good for hikers of all levels.

I hiked this trail for the first time in January and was so inspired by the beauty, I hiked the loop a second time. Definitely tired after 2 loops, but followed it by a great meal at BooKoo in Mill Valley. I’ve returned three times since because the trail views are lovely. In the summer, the amphitheater is used for live theater so we planned a day around it: We watched Mama Mia and then hiked...very fun. I felt safe hiking it alone, but use your own discretion.
