As a chubby out-of-shape 30 something, I was a bit nervous to climb all the ladders up to the Alcove House, but I'm glad I did. It gave me and arm and leg workout and it definitely was scary at times, particularly when going down the ladders. But it was worth it to say that I did it and enjoy the view at the top.

Stop by the cave dwellings on the way to the Alcove trail, which are fun to climb into and sit inside.

Must wear a hat on this trail. There is little shade.

Lauren Walker reviewed Ellwood Bluffs/Coronado Butterfly Preserve

One of my favorite areas in Santa Barbara / Goleta. Gorgeous bluffs and then an easy descent down to the beach.

The monarch trails in the forest are currently closed because the trees are dying. Check the butterfly grove website.

Lauren Walker reviewed Big 4 Trail - Lebanon to Thorntown

I started the trail from Lebanon.

The rural views start after at least half a mile past the trailhead parking lot in Lebanon (near the I-65 overpass). Until then, there is too much traffic noise from 65 and city streets. Not too many trees or shade until then either. For this reason, it would be better for running or biking.

One of the best parks I've been to in central Indiana. Beautiful natural Indiana habitat from grass praries with a variety of wildflowers to soft rolling hills with forest and a creek.

A very clean and well maintained park with good trail markings and cute trail names.

The historic bridge is a delight and gives overlook views of the creek and trails below. I stood on the bridge for some time just overlooking the water.

Plenty of swallowtail butterflies and wildflowers on Fox trail. 3 picnic tables on Overlook trail in shaded spots with views of the creek valley.

The drive into the park area is through gorgeous hilly farm land reminiscent of southern Indiana. A much needed break from the flat land in central Indiana.
