This was a super easy hike. not too pretty until you're about half a mile in. The waterfall is prerty, but you have to veer off the path a little to see it.

It was chilly at the beginning, but as I got moving it wasn't bad. some of the rocks are slick, so tread carefully! I brought a headlamp and was able to use my hands to climb over some of the boulders. there were a few spots where the ceiling was low, but not too bad. one thing to note...it's a dirt road to get out there. my little Eos made it, but a higher clearance vehicle would have been nice.

it was a nice little hike. not too long. the bottom half is like walking through sand, which was a little extra resistance I wasn't expecting. be careful by the top, I slid a couple of times because the ground was covered in lava rocks like loose gravel. make sure you go to the summit and take the fork right to explore the caves!

it was lovely, but still a lot of snow on the ground, even in may. the trail was sometimes hard to find and because it is late spring, the snow was melting in some places, making the trail slick. emerald lake was still completely frozen, but dream lake was partially thawed and very picturesque.

this trail is a little ways out of town and there wasn't much traffic. there was snow on the ground still! But it was fairly warm out. there's a lot of vertical, so be prepared for all that uphill! we never made it to the cabin, ran out of time, but I would definitely come back, the views of the mountains and the nearby river were so pretty.

walking around Goldwater Lake is lovely, but the trail on the lake stops at the dam. there is an alternate path (the one on this so depicts) that does pass by the other lake, but you can't get down to it. there were more bikers than hikers, but everyone was very friendly. Lovely day for a hike.

The trail was good and long and for the most part easy to navigate...well, at least the first 6 miles or so before you get to the actual skull mesa trail. there weren't too many people, which was kind of nice. you cross a river 5 times before you get to the path junction to determine which way you want to go. then it's a couple of miles and you will pass through a gate, that's where the skull mesa trail starts. that trail is terribly marked. if it wasn't for the cairn stones (man-made rock piles), i would have had no clue where i was going. when you get to the top of the mesa, it is a gorgeous view! totally worth it! but make sure to go back the same way you came, i couldn't find a path off the opposite side of the trail. and make sure you plan on making a day trip out of this hike! i was moving pretty fast, but almost 18 miles takes more than a few hours!

I did an out and back to the Spruce Mountain lookout...it wasn't too steep at the outset, but about halfway through I definitely noticed the terrain getting rockier and steeper. I thought it was lovely. There weren't too many people out! I wish I had had more time to do the loop.

This was a very easy trail. We got there after a rain, so it was a little muddy and a little buggy. But you cross back and forth over the river and can get some lovely pictures of the river, trees, and mountains as you walk through. When we were there it wasn't too busy because it had just rained, but I can see it being a pretty popular trail. Just be sure to have an extra pair of socks in case you step into the river when trying to cross it!

From the parking lot to the trail is about a mile down an ATV road that is Sandy, rocky, and nothing too exciting to see. When you get to Devil's Bridge Trail, it starts off easy and builds you into some places that are more like natural stairs. Be sure to stop on your way up and look around because there are lots of pretty views all around! The bridge itself is neat and great for pictures. There are a lot of people at the bridge, so be prepared to wait for pictures!

it was more rock climbing than I expected. the trail was pretty easy to follow, but coming back down there were times I was scooting down on my butt. I was definitely no disappointed with the view from the top! we went earlier in the morning, but as we were coming back down around 10 it was starting to get busy, so there was some waiting for people going both directions, but I think that's any trail you go on. Definitely worth the $5 Red Rock pass you have to buy to hike at Cathedral Rock.
