    Washington, Michigan

I live for outside exploration & adventure. Enjoy challenging day hikes, kayaking, fat biking, mud runs, working out, & travel. Also like visiting brew pubs to sample different craft beer. Any type of Mexican food is my favorite & I make fresh salsa & guacamole using home grown ingredients whenever possible. Fantasy & Sci-Fi are my preferred genres with George RR Martin's Song of Ice & Fire my top pick (well before the TV series was released). Current items on my bucket list include traveling to Iceland, summiting Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania Africa, & hiking both Machu & Huayna Picchu in Peru. Hobbies are home improvement & driving my 727hp 2016 Ford Mustang GT. I have a personal goal to hike ALL 58 14er's in Colorado.

Windy day with serious gusts but no rain or storms. Expecting a casual hike at altitude to gradually get acclimated. Trail Head was at over 10,000 feet and there were patches of snow across the path almost from the start. Ended up trudging through heavy snow in many places sinking in up to my knees. 1st full day in Salida and this trail was NOT easy. Thankfully, the sun would peek through a partly cloudy sky and light up the trail brightening my spirit. Took my time and many photos. Nice afternoon!

Driving through the mountains and saw this trail so parked and went exploring. Fairly steep with a bunch of switchbacks but not overly long. Rainy day but trail was in decent shape and we were mostly under cover. Surprised to find an old train tunnel at the top - very dark and spooky. Curved through the mountain with no end in site. Looked like something in a zombie movie so decided not to venture in.Took some cool photos. Glad we stopped.

Wow what a challenge! Arrived in Colorado Springs yesterday wearing a Tough Mudder shirt and a worker at the hotel asked me if I was here to do the Manitou Incline. I had never heard of it so woke up the next morning and hit the steps (2,744 of them). Felt pretty good being only at elevation 1 day. Crowded on a Saturday but the free shuttle in Manitou Springs was great, I recommend it. Free parking behind Chase bank. Met a trail volunteer and got a history lesson on the Barr Trail, Pike's Peak, and the incline. If you're in the area, don't pass this up.
