Diamond lake is great anytime of the year. In the winter you can rent snowmobiles and ride the trails, in the sprint and summer you can walk, bike or ride 4 wheelers. There is great fishing, boat rentals, a great pizza place, the lodge and cabins. I was not happy with the hotel as it seemed old and smelled musty. The cabins are older but are kept up for the most part.

There are three different areas to start and see this waterfall. I have been in the lower and middle entrance. All aspects of the waterfall are great. There is a bridge from the lower entrance that is a perfect spot to view the waterfall and take photos. There is a viewing area at the end of the trail that brings you right up by the waterfall where you can see the top and the bottom just below. The mist from the falls will get you wet.

I took route 1 for this waterfall. Getting down to the falls is great and all downhill, coming back up was longer as it is all uphill. The only complaint was being constantly attacked by mosquitos. As soon as our car door opened the bugs were on us. The waterfall itself was gorgeous. You can make your way down the short hill to walk up to the falls. The area is lush and green. The hike to the falls is worth it as long as you have a good bug spray or repellent to use. The falls were fabulous in July. You will need to wait until all snow is melted to be able to drive to the first route.

Koree Smith Tate reviewed Grotto Falls Trail

This is a short hike. There is a picnic table and restroom where you park. The waterfall spills over rocks far enough where you can walk underneath the waterfall. Best flow is early spring. There are four more waterfalls if you hike above Grotto. It is difficult getting to the other falls as you have to climb up the steep hillside after Grotto and then you don't have true trails above. You will need to remain close to the water as you go above the falls. Very beautiful and you feel really secluded from things. Best to go with someone or at least tell someone you are tempting the falls above. There is a section where you can stand at the top of where Grotto falls spills over the edge of the rock.
