This hike is a must-do for any reasonably fit person visiting Arches. We ended up doing this as a sunset hike on a cloudy day. I do not recommend trying this in the heat of the day unless you are very active.

The main reason I'm writing this is that we saw a lot of people hiking up while we were descending. Do not hike this into night hours unless 1) you have a headlamp 2) you are wearing appropriate shoes (flipflops don't count) and 3) its not threatening rain. Honestly, we saw people taking young children up in the dark right before it rained. I can't imagine trying to descend the slip rock in the dark while its wet. This is a moderate hike in the right conditions but would easily be very hard under the wrong ones.

A can't miss trail outside of Moab. We started an hour before sunset and enjoyed that it was shady for the second half. However, several posts lists this as a good hike for sunset views. Not so much. The sun is well behind the cliff at sunset putting the trail and arch in the shade. Still a great choice in the evening just don't except dramatic light through the arch.

This is a great choice for an easy hike out to a great view of White Rim. The ranger said it's just as good as Grandview but with less people. As others have said, the turn off isn't actually marked as a trailhead, just a picnic area. The Canyonlands estimates this as taking 1.5 hours. That is widely over. I'd say 45 minutes.

Absolutely loved this hike. We got to the trailhead just after 7 am in August. Definitely start early to avoid crowds and sun. Some shade. We did the whole loop with all side jaunts except Dark Angel. Took just under 4 hours.

No real issues following the trail though it does help to download the offline Google map to check. Great scenery that changes as you go. The rock scrambles and fins require no special skill other than not being afraid of heights. A few steep spots but lots of level walking as well. Parts of the primitive section are deep sand which is a little annoying for hiking. I'd label this as moderate overall for most people.

If you only do one side jaunt, do Partition Arch. Saw a mule deer. We did stumble onto a somewhat racey photo shoot for going on at Navajo Arch.

Completed this drive upwards in a stock Honda CRV. No issues though do not attempt if you are uncomfortable with heights. Saw a bighorn sheep at the start. Great views and fun way to start off a trip to Canyonlands.

We hiked this early one day in August. Great morning hike, not too busy and lots of shade if you go early. Really interesting to weave in and out of all the rock formations. Lots of variety because you go down in and then back up and around. Very different than any other hike we did in the area.

FYI, the trailhead lists the distance at 4.4 miles total. I would rate this as a solid moderate with some steep bits and a few dropoffs. Very manageable though especially before 10am.

All the online guides say this is a must-do hike at Flaming Gorge. I'd suggest it a must-do get out and see the views but not really a hike. If you start at the visitors center and follow the trail until it enters the forest before turning around as some suggest, it's fine. However it's very near a road and campgrounds, and the view of the gorge only changes very subtly. I think there are better hikes in the area.

I'd suggest just getting out at the visitors center to see the views. Maybe drive to the lodge and head out on their access trail (past the cabins and it's clearly marked) to get the slightly different view. If you do want a loop, we hiked from the visitors center then turned onto to the path to Greens Lake then met back up with to the canyon rim trail for about 4.5 miles total. The lake portion is forested and away from the rim but we did see mule deer. Also stopped for lunch at the Lodge. Still this isn't really a hike, but rather a long walk with lots of people.

This trail was exactly as billed. Yes a long but mostly scenic drive (with several overlooks to stop) from the highway. The trail is worth it. Easy hiking with some simple inclines. Some shade depending on time of day. Lovely trees. And great views starting after marker 4. The $1 guide is interesting especially for a family. Saw a mule deer on the drive. Could be combined with a drive to the Echo Park campground for the below view.
