It wasn't easy for me! But I managed. I had been planning a trek here for the past few years. Lived at the base for 20 years but never even made it to Baldy or anywhere near the trail head. The view at the top is amazing.

Great hike, wonderful views. Marked well at the beginning, middle, and end, when you're on the ridge it's gets bouldery at times. We hiked counterclockwise, encountered several hikers going the opposite direction. The stairs on the homestead side would have have been much harder climbing than descending. We think we made a good choice of direction. We gladly made a donation at the iron ranger at the trailhead. We also picked up some trash left by others (obviously by accident of course). Our total distance was a little longer than the listed mileage due to some geocaching we did along the way. Would do this again.

Enjoyed the trail, found some geocaches and loved the big bridge.

Strenuous on the way up, the return trip is much easier. I didn't read that part about "recommended for very experienced outdoorsmen."

I'm jealous of all the trails in Sacramento. The ART is pretty cool.

I have run this trail in various sections for several years. This time I cycled from the trailhead at Nees Avnue and SR 41 to Shaw and Clovis Avenue. There are several crossings that require the rider to make some interesting traffic handling decisions. When the trail goes through Downtown Clovis the trail abruptly ends in a parking lot with no directional signage, (if there was a sign I didn't see it). Had I not been familiar with the trail prior to riding it I may have been confused. There are several underpasses along the trail, and at one at grade crossing there are dedicated warning flashers for motorists warning of trails users. Most of the crossing utilize existing traffic signals. Crossing at Sierra and Clovis Avenues and Shaw and Clovis Avenue using the crosswalk while on a bike is not the best of situations. Overall I haad a good experince however I would likely avoid riding the entire lenght of the trail and leave that to the runner in me.

Nice trail to run or bike or horseback. Nice views, rest stops, and even a toilet. A nice side trip is to take the Cow Loop or side trip to the River Ranch. If you are on a bike good starting point for a ride to Friant. The Cow Loop also connects to Old Highway 41 and the future development of the Spank River Ranch area. Trailheads are located in Woodward Park and along Friant Road. Woodward Park requires a $5 entrance fee.

K Hobbs reviewed Bay Area Ridge Trail: Santa Teresa County Park and Los Alamitos / Calero Creek Trail

We visited Santa Teresa County Park and did one of the loop trails. The portion we walked was part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. 6.3 of the trail's 73 miles are located and end in this park.
