Kirk Astroth reviewed Cypress Trail to Boulders Trail Loop

This trail has been destroyed by dirt bikers who have churned the trail to sand in many places. It was sad to see. Some steep sections are very eroded and difficult to walk. The Forest Service should close this trail to motorized use and rehabilitate the area. The trail is hard to find at times and the PATS signs are few and far between in the beginning.

The hike from the picnic ground to the river crossing is only about 2.2 miles not 3. There is a lot of poison ivy along the way. The trail at this time is not ideal for mountain biking because of all the downed timber across the trail after the Wallow fire.

Great spot for mountain biking particularly in the winter.

Great place to ride in the winter. Access is best from the county Solid Waste Transfer station on East County 5th Street. No maps or signs. Follow your nose and ride definable trails for lots of fun.

The trail seems longer than 7 miles RT. One of my mapping apps said it was 9 while another said 7.5 When we finished. Not sure why the difference but we did this hike New Year's Eve day in 2015 and the nearly 3000 feet of elevation gain was a lot--most of it at the end. It takes a long time to drive to the trailhead--Google Maps is not lying! No bikes or dogs allowed. This is wilderness. Best views are on the slopes on the way up. The views on top are not nearly so good.

This trail is further than these maps indicate. It is about 8.5 miles round trip. And the elevation gain is more than 2500 feet

Great mountain biking area. Lots of options here when you park just north of the waste transfer station along the road next to the canal. Head east and explore. Come back on the Liberty Bell or Dos Equis trail for fun. It would be great if the bike shop in town had a clue about this are and provided maps. A bike group needs to get out there and do some signage. This place rocks!

Casa Grande Mountain Park rocks! There are many miles of trails here, not just this short one listed. Start at the trailhead off Arica Road (exit 200 on I-10) and head west near the Love's quick stop. From the trailhead, the best is first head south along any number of the trails, eventually looping back to where you began, and then heading north along the east slopes to the northern trailhead at Peart Road. Old ruins are along the trail here. Go back up over the pass and return to your car. The Ridgeline Trail is fantastic. Soon trails now have signs and are named thanks to an NCCC Work Team that has worked hard to improve the trail system. Great place to ride in spring, fall and winter, but avoid in the summer months. Snakes are common.

A outstanding bike loop down south of Arivaca and near the border. Spectacular scenery and even the ruins of an old smelter about 5 miles in. Ride counter-clockwise as there are numerous hills and dips. Some old wildcat mines along the road (two track the whole way) and active mines as well. You may encounter some hunters, but it seems even the Border Patrol doesn't go down here--never saw any all day. Took us 3 1/2 hours but we stopped a lot to take photos, look around, etc. Afterwards, stop at the La Gitana Cantina in Arivaca for beers and green chili cheese burgers. Great end to a wonderful day. Take plenty of water and bike repair stuff as you are miles from any help. Warsaw Gulch is a beauty and had flowing water when we rode this route.
