    Kimmy Haines reviewed Owl Trail

Very easy trail, did it in under an hour...was verrrrry windy, cold around sunset...the best part was Slide ranch at the end, and being greeted by cheerful kid goats who stuck their heads through the fence yelling at me when I arrived! Ok, well I think they mistook me for one of the ranch girls who walked up in a group to feed them all shortly afterward, but still it was a fun and cute surprise. Beautiful scenery, and lots of deer too...mostly flat and now I know a good trail to bring my Mom when she visits, as she has a bad hip and is not great for hard hikes...

I actually did this the other day but with an add on to the middle green gulch trail on the way to muir, it adds a little variety for plants and air-type. In all I hiked for 9.5 miles and I was tired coming back, but if you just stick to this nice trail it is pretty nice...I think there are much prettier side paths off the fire road that are really worth exploring and I hardly see people on them. I almost stepped on a baby bunny at one point, didn't even move! So cute...wear sunblock!!!!

Love it here so much. Just saw a bald eagle fly across my car very close range on the way to this hike from Bolinas, in the lagoon. Loads of poppies are popping right now. Amazing, special place. I also found a whole, giant abalone shell at the beach but threw it back

Great trail, however I wish to do it again on a weekday because it was too crowded the closer you got to Tenessee Beach. There are various off shoots along the upper part of the hill that are much more scenic and beautiful in my opinion. Perfect hiking weather early April

Sundays are quite busy, but Mondays this trail is nearly empty. There are a lot of wildflowers and it is currently early April. beautiful trail.

I did not start at the trail's head, but from a pulloff at Ross Road...I hiked around here solo for about 4 hours, and saw not one person...it was truly amazing...Bull male elephant seal was bobbing around at one point and making lots of noise..saw many hawks and harbor seals too...I love the wooded walkway at the end of the dune area, it feels nice to lay there at the end and relax and have lunch...beautiful place...good seaglass too by the way...found a stopper and some large turquoise chunks

Crowded... but a very nice, iconic view, definitly worth the stop...very friendly to non athletic types...sidenote: you can just park on the hwy instead of going into the parking lot...fyi

A nice, quick little stop, I was lucky enough to have the cove to myself during sunset, and it was just barely misting and full sun...absolutely beautiful...do not climb the rocks too much like I did, I realized after climbing to a point that I was in a pretty remote spot and could have easily fallen off a cliff into the ocean with no safe way back out...hopefully people are wiser than me

Just did this hike about a month ago, it was absolutely beautiful. Although there are portions I remember hiking in the past that are now closed unfortunately, I ended up just going along the beach for a few hours as the tide dropped...kind of the same scenery and feels endless...a nice serene feeling and beautiful fog...

we actually had trouble figuring out the small parking area pull off for this, so we parked near devil's slide and added that along...the parking area is right before you go into the tunnel coming from north, and this trail was very nice! We saw whales!!

Very wet experience! my friend and I really enjoyed this place...but we did start sort of late and the fog got verrrrrry heavy at about 4pm, which made it very dark on the way home...great hike/scenery...easy

Really serene and smells wonderful. saw a small group of deer and it was super quiet! Loads of salamanders and banana slugs!! I kinda wish I had brought a friend because I saw after hiking that there are mountain lions here..and it seemed the sort of territory one may encounter one

Really cool experience... at one point on the trail we look to our right and see elephant seals sleeping on the beach, and to our left toward the valley a deer...meanwhile snakes are slithering away through the dunes..very cool/beautiful/special place!!! Authentic California

Really great scenery, and particularly beautiful at the very south end of the beach, after climbing across some dunes and rocks, I found smuggler's cove, which held many beautiful, large abalone shells! I left them, but I did find a really nice piece of teal seaglass, among many other sea animals...truly beautiful and serene.

Love this trail. loads of wildlife and minimal people...especially on a weekday. I recommend either starting early in the morning or at about 2 in the afternoon summer, avoid between 11-2 in the summer, I brought two friends along separate occasions and they seemed to nearly suffer heat stroke. Bring water and a snack (duh). Takes me about 2.5 hours, maybe less if I'm going fast.

My favorite hike in San Diego. I used to live nearby and hiked it twice weekly, it took me roughly 3 hours, and longer if in the middle of the day in summer. I've spotted large rattlesnakes, roadrunners, horned toads, Jeruselum Cricket, tarantulas and owls on this trail...much better workout and less packed than Coweles..often hiked during a weekday, seeing minimal people. =)
