Kevin Mora reviewed Mitchell Creek to Diablo Summit

A long hike with lots of uphill but nothing technical about the hike. We did the counter-clockwise version which was probably a mistake because the downhill is pretty tricky. Probably best to come down along the fire road. Nice views from the top. Best to go in the Spring or Fall, as Summer can be too hot.

Kevin Mora reviewed Chimney Rock Trail

Nice little hike out to Chimney Rock. Best to leave early in the morning before it gets too hot, as the trail is exposed the entire time.

Kevin Mora reviewed French Trail and Stream Trail Loop via Skyline Blvd

Got to Skyline parking lot before 8am on a Sunday and it was already full so had to park along the street. Hike down Stream Trail and to the other parking lot was pretty easy, shaded and downhill, passing by campsites and redwoods. Headed back via French trail, which requires some uphill initially and then a few portions of up and downhill, nothing too strenuous. Overall a good hike, just get there early.

Kevin Mora reviewed Brins Mesa Trail To Jordan Cibola Pass Trail

Some parking at the trailhead, get there early. Initial uphill turns into a nice flat walk that is exposed until you get towards the creek bed. Some great views looking down into the valley. Halfway point is another road, didn't see anyone there, but made for a good place to fuel up before finishing the hike,

Kevin Mora reviewed Courthouse Butte Loop Trail

Easy enough hike assuming it isn’t too warm and the crowds aren’t too bad. We had fun exploring the area and taking in the amazing views.

Kevin Mora reviewed Oak Flat Loop Trail

Nice hike from the visitor center partially down into the canyon under the cover of trees. Just be careful, a tree branch grabbed ahold of my sunglasses from the top of my head and I had to make my way down the steep canyon to get them. Some decent views of the canyon floor from a few points. Not many people on the trail.

Kevin Mora reviewed Bear Gulch Day Use Area to Reservoir via Rim Trail

A nice hike from the main parking lot up to the caves. Pretty straight forward and it can get hot. Didn't make it to the lake because I was with older folks with knee problems, but it was a nice hike nonetheless.

Kevin Mora reviewed Bumpas Hell to Cold Boiling Lake

Kinda disappointed in this one. Don't go expecting a boiling lake, most like a few burping air bubbles. The hike itself is nice and has some great views though.

Kevin Mora reviewed Bumpass Hell Trail [CLOSED]

Nice hike from the road to the hot springs. Some great photos can be taken here. Get there early as parking is really limited and the hordes of people can make the trail unbearable.

Kevin Mora reviewed Garfield Peak Trail

Probably the best hike if you could only choose one. Some sleep parts but the views are well worth it and you can grab some food at the lodge upon completing the hike, Great to be away from people in parking lots as they take photos of the lake, feels more special from up above.

    Kevin Mora reviewed Rim Trail

Easy hike along the canyon's rim with markers letting you know the history of the canyon. Went in December so it was cold and not many people, more elk than people actually. Worth doing after watching the sunrise from Mather Point.

Kevin Mora reviewed Bright Angel Trail to Three-Mile Resthouse

Great introduction to canyon as you head down a few miles. Lots of switchbacks, but they weren't too bad and not many people on the trail, albeit it was December and it was cold.

Kevin Mora reviewed Giant Logs Trail

Nice introduction upon entering the park, some impressive large preserved logs.

Kevin Mora reviewed Crystal Forest Trail

Easy enough walk from the parking lot, but it gives you an opportunity to get close to lots of petrified wood. Worth the stop as you are passing through the park.

Kevin Mora reviewed Blue Mesa Trail

Not a difficult hike, but some great views. It can be a bit slippery after the rain, so use some caution, but otherwise it is pretty easy, which gives you time to take in the colors!

Kevin Mora reviewed Bridal Wreath Falls Trail

Steep at times and the heat can make it that much more challenging. Bring plenty of water, take breaks, and be ready to be in the sun the entire time. Levels off after a while and the hike is easier. Headed towards the falls, but they had dried up. Some great views on the way back down.

Kevin Mora reviewed Devil's Hall Trail

Nice walk next to and through the dry creek bed. It is pretty rocky and you aren't always on a trail. so it can be slow going at time. The end has some great views when you are down in the canyon and the staircase at the end is fun, it is somewhat steep, so just use your hands. Not many people on the trail at all.

Kevin Mora reviewed Smith Spring Trail

Decent enough, not too much to see except for the vastness of the landscape, but there is some water and waterfalls in some shaded areas at the halfway point, otherwise you are in the sun most of the time.

Kevin Mora reviewed Lost Mine Trail

Steep at times, this is a nice trail with some great views towards the end. People afraid of heights will be ok, they just might not want to stand to close to the edges. Lots of switchbacks, but nothing too serious. Small parking lot, so get there early to get a spot and avoid the crowds. We passed tons of people on our way down.

    Kevin Mora reviewed Peak Trail

Eh, just ok. Hiked it because we were waiting for the hot springs to open and had some time to kill. Not a difficult hike and not much to see. The tower at the top lets you know you are ready to turn around.

Kevin Mora reviewed High Dune Trail

Much harder than one would expect. Bring water and sunglasses, as towards the top the wind gets nasty and you will be eating sand. Pace yourself, as the sand makes it slow going. Push past the initial high point where most people stop and continue off to the left, which requires a slight decline before heading up the spine of the final, highest dune, which offers amazing views.

Kevin Mora reviewed Petroglyph Point Trail

Good hike which gives you a sense of the landscape, not just the original dwellings. Enjoyed passing the dwellings and hugging the side of the drop off taking in great views until we switched directions and walked along the top. Not a difficult hike, but we started in the early mooning. Saw some recent graffiti, which was disappointing.

Kevin Mora reviewed Cliff Palace Loop Trail

Not much of a hike, but a great informative tour of the dwellings. Some ladder use is required, but it is easy.

Kevin Mora reviewed Soda Canyon Overlook Trail

Quick and easy walk to the lookout point with some great views of the mesa. Pretty straight forward and flat, parking at the trailhead and not many people on the trail, which separates into a small loop towards the end.

Kevin Mora reviewed Warner Point Nature Trail

Easy hike, following the trail guide out to the end. Nice views of the surrounding area. Last trail at the end of the road, small parking lot but parking wasn't too bad.

Kevin Mora reviewed Cedar Point Nature Trail

Quick walk out to the edge with some great views. Nobody on the trail.

Kevin Mora reviewed Charlies Bunion via Appalachian Trail

Nice hike through the National Park, with some great views at the turn-around point, which make the hike worth it. The weather held up, it wasn't too hot or muggy or rainy, which was great. Although it is a long hike, it isn't too difficult. Lots of parking at the trail head if you get there early.

    Kevin Mora reviewed Ledges Trail

Nice, easy hike with some interesting landscapes to explore. Walking through the ravines and seeing everything covered in moss was fun. Worth exploring if you are at the National Park.

Kevin Mora reviewed Middle Velma Lake Trail

Nice hike with some great views and plenty of places to pull off and enjoy. Lots of people if you get there anytime after 8-9am. Couldn't make it all the way, as there was still snow on the trail. Parking at the trailhead or along the road.
