I can't believe it is right in the middle of the city. It's absolutely beautiful. You feel like you're deep in the forest as soon as you enter. The trees, flowers, and the smell will calm you the entire time.

it's a great trail and I'm really glad I found it because it's so close! A perfect hike if you got a late start in the morning (which we did), or if you wana take an out-of-town person for some physical activity. You can cut it down to 5 miles by going back the short part of the loop, but I wouldn't suggest it bc the long part of the loop has some of the best views of the front range. Definitely suggest it

The road in is pretty annoying if you're in a small car, but it's worth it. The trailhead is not marked, but starts when 18 dead ends into a "private property" gate. The second half of the trail is all loose rock. The trail splits into a bunch of different routes throughout the middle, which is weird, but as long as you're headed in the right direction, they all end up in the same place. We hiked at night to watch the sunrise from the top and it was very hard to follow. Luckily we had a GPS to keep us on track. With all that said, it is a short 14er with a great view at the top. Definitely worth doing.

Beautiful scenery. There's never really any mountain views, since it's a front range hike, but the area is just great. We did Staunton Ranch to Bugling Elk to Marmot Pass to Scout Line back to Staunton Ranch. It was probably about 10 miles total. The only elevation was on MP and SL. Took us about 5 hours with lunch at the pond. This would be a good fall hike bc of all the Aspen trees.

pretty new mexico views in the valley and it takes you down to the rim of Rio Grande Gorge. Flat most of the way. It says a little over 10 miles, but there are actually trails around the area that you can connect to that probably can cut it down to 8 miles if you plan it. A great place to mountain bike. I was jealous of everyone with a bike

Hike is beautiful all the way, and what a destination!! Starts at the Taos Ski area. If we had more time, we'd probably have gone up to Wheeler Peak, but we did it the morning we were heading out of town

wonderful hike. We did this after Deer Mountain in the morning. it's not very long, but the scenery is outstanding, and all 3 lakes along the trail are gorgeous

first things first: Indian Route 18 is 60 miles leading up to the trailhead and there are elk and cows all over the place. drive super carefully especially around turns and blind humps in the road.

next, the trail isn't that bad. it's long but mostly riverbed walking. it's 10 miles but it only took us like 4 hours. the falls are beautiful. you'll definitely wana take a dip. the camp site has tables, water, and bathrooms w TP so consider that when packing. the climb down and up to Mooney Falls is pretty vertical, but keep 3 points of contact and you'll be fine. We arrived late on the first day and then had to be out the next day so we couldn't make it out to Beaver Falls. would have liked to have time for that.

great views of longs and the accompanying ridge along almost the entire hike. peak is pretty good although not a 360 degree view. overall a good hike if you're looking for something that has some distance but isn't too difficult

easy to get to, well maintained, and a great destination. I would take my out of town friends on this one-- it won't kill you but the view at the end is great. only problem is all the elevation happens in the last 0.7, but it's not bad

Kevin Duncan reviewed Kenosha Pass North

really easy hike due to not much elevation change. we did it Oct 1st to view the aspens and it didn't disappoint. went about a mile past the "end" of the hike because it was easy and beautiful. we got there at 8 and it was already kind of crowded. when we finished around 1130, we were blown away by how many people were there. parking lot jammed and cars lining the street for a half mile both ways.

Great hike. It's definitely difficult in terms of steepness-- 4.5 miles and 4,500 feet. The last bit (maybe 500 meters) is a full scramble to the top. Gorgeous though, and it helps that the trailhead is so easily accessible. Perfectly paved roads all the way to the trailhead.

Kevin Duncan reviewed Eldorado Canyon Trail

It's a nice hike. Eldorado Canyon is a great place for family.
There aren't any extraordinary views, but it is pretty the entire time. It's quite a bit of elevation in a short distance. We didn't hike down the last bit to the Walker Ranch Loop because it was basically straight down and there didn't seem to be any reason to do it when we already had the views on the top.

Kevin Duncan reviewed Shelf Lake Trail

Don't pick this hike unless you have a high clearance vehicle. The road is about 3 miles, covered in rocks and many steep dips.

As for the hike, it is a great moderate hike. Forests, wildflowers, views, and the lake is beautiful as you can see from all the pictures.

It's a 3 star hike for sure. it's great to be out in nature. there aren't any spectacular views, although there are some cool peaks in the distance. It's long, so you can decide how long of a day you want to make it. We turned around probably 3.5 miles in to make it a fairly short day. it's easy to get to and close to Denver.

Kevin Duncan reviewed Mounts Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross Trail

We went on a random Monday night and the parking lot was still packed. but we started at 4:30 and had a good pace so we were able to ditch most of the crowds. my Honda fit was able to make it all the way although painstakingly.

If you want an easy 14er, just doing Democrat and then returning would be cake. Probably the easiest there is. The entire loop is great though. Lincoln is my favorite peak on the loop--small and jagged so it provides good views.

Coming down Bross is really Rocky and annoying, but you gotta do it so just power through. I would not suggest coming up Bross.

Great trail, beautiful creek that flows steeply. get there early for parking since you're at the longs peak trailhead.

The last bit of the hike is about a 300 ft scramble. lake is gorgeous with longs in the background

absolutely loved this hike. going through the canyon on the right side doesn't even feel like you're in the front range. pristine creek along the way and dense vegetation. The extra mile to windy peak for sure worth it. will definitely be back to do this one again

We started at the top of the mountain at Ute Trail and came all the way down to connect with this trail to be picked up by a friend at the parking lot in the valley. This is a nice little hike into nature. Nothing too stunning besides the original valley that is right by the parking lot. It's a nice walk though if you want to get out.

If you have the option for a point-to-point, definitely a good idea to do what we did and hike it down from the top starting at Ute Trail. It would be a lot tougher on the way up, but more rewarding because the views are up there at the top of Ute Trail. There is a span of incredible incline though. You have to be prepared for this long hike if you're going up it. I would not out-and-back this trail connection though; that's too much.

Kevin Duncan reviewed Ute Trail - Tombstone Ridge

Stipulations on this hike. Cut it in half for sure. As you can see from the topo, there is a very steep drop off about half way. I would say it's a park the car, take a half hour to walk out along the ridge, and then go back to your car for a different hike that day-- there's no way I would go down that decline and then turn around and come back up. We planned to connect to beaver mountain trail and had a friend pick us up down in the valley-- that's the way to do it if you want to continue.

Kevin Duncan reviewed Odessa Lake Via Fern Lake Trail

Great day hike. Flat for the first mile n a half. Then goes up after you cross the river, but it's not bad. Fern falls are great and will cool you off mid hike. Fern lake is pretty, although it's hard to get a good view of the entire thing. The extra mile to Odessa lake is so worth it. The lake and surrounding mountains are extraordinary.

Bring bud spray! Bad mosquitoes in July

Great hike. Beautiful at the top, although a little hard to follow once it opens above the trees. Only trails Hermann Gulch because there isn't a lake, but HG is much more crowded, so do this one if you feel like ditching people.

I love the forests in Nederland. It smells wonderful, you get tree cover, and the pine needles make the trail nice and soft. This hike is easy to get to and beautiful the whole time. The columbines were pristine, and the lake is beautiful. The trail is extremely well kept and it allows for fast moving. The only downside is that there are never really any mountain views. Mostly forest.

Great hike right in town in Telluride. We did it in the morning before leaving town when we were there for a few days. Only took about 2.5 hours; the trail is very well kept. So beautiful and the falls are absolutely amazing. I can't believe this hike starts in people's back yard. How lucky!
