We did this last summer and it is so worth the switchbacks. Beautiful view. It was very hot and sort of intense though so bring a lot of water.

Definitely fun and worth going as far as you can. We rented poles/“waterproof” shoes. They were not waterproof, but the poles came in handy. As long as you’re careful where your feet end up this is a joy to do. Eventually we got off the beaten path and climbed up into some waterfalls. Great hike.

We did this during winter and it was beautiful. Pretty steep in places but overall a good little hike.

I did this during the winter and it was the best thing we did at Joshua Tree. Fairly flat and plenty to look at.

We went when it was super hot and it was nothing special. Long unshaded stretches with some decent views.

While mostly shaded in the beginning, it had long periods in the hot sun. We actually walked almost 10 miles too, it’s a little longer than stated here. Be careful of poison oak near the end.

The hike is fairly simple and definitely worth the effort. We also saw far less traffic than when we did Mist Trail/Vernal/Nevada Falls. Worth checking out!

Very crowded and wet, but worth it! Make sure you bring plenty of water and don’t feed the squirrels.

Super great trail with awesome views that connects to other trails if you’re feeling adventurous.

The caves are great but the rest is nothing special. The trail was clear but there wasn’t much shade. Meh.

This trail was not clearly defined, but it’s hard to go wrong. It’s not too steep and is fairly shaded as long as you don’t go beyond the end of the falls. You can go beyond the waterfall (if you want a more difficult trek) and see a few small lakes. As other reviewers stated, this isn’t super dog accessible beyond the falls.
