keith favara reviewed Lake Blanche Trail

So...I kinda had mixed thoughts on this hike, but still thought it was good. I was actually kinda underwhelmed by Lake Blanche...the actual lake. That being said I thought that the two smaller lakes on the backside of Lake Blanche we're alot more picturesque probably because of you look down on those two lakes....or at least you first do. The other thing about this hike that is pretty cool right now are the fall colors. I have to admit that I hit this hike a little too late. If I would have done it a month or two ago the lake would have been more full and the waterfall on the backside of lake Blanche would have been bigger. Last but not least this was a pretty good workout.....at least for me it was.

I really liked this hike. The fall colors right now are really coming out...alot of yellow. I extended the hike by taking a short side path to the left that led to a really nice overlook of silver lake. I also walked around Twin Lakes after I got up there. Another cool thing that happened is that on my way back after you get to the boardwalk again I saw my first moose. She was hanging out just to the side of the trail munching on leaves. Very scenic trail especially during this time of year. Give it a shot.

Other reviewer is correct..pic of lake for this trail is not correct so don't go just to see a lake.... don't think there is one there. There is a river, some small bridges that cross it, and you get to do a hike that spreads the elevation change(1300+ ft) out across a longer distance so it makes it easier which is pretty cool. I think I actually liked two other things the most...the old broken down stone chapel(I think that's what it is)at the end and the metal contraption thing that everybody has pictures of on here that is powered by water. Despite watching it for 10 straight minutes I have no idea what the heck it's purpose was....but it was fascinating!! Oh..and as a geocacher I need to point out that I found one out there. Have a good one and enjoy the hike if you go!!!! Oh....watch out for the mountain bikers as they come down the trail....they were all really nice and said thanks when I stopped and got to the side, but if some of them hit me going as fast as they were there might not be anything left of me....it looked really fun.....I have gotta try it some day if I can.

nice hike and nice wayerfall. alot of people on the falls. after looking at the falls and walking through the river I hiked up a trail that I previously passed that took me up above the falls. I think I was way past them, but was able to get down to the river. started to walk downstream, but the water was pretty cold. I instead went and found a geocache back up the hill. It was a pretty good time, but like I said....it was popular.

I did this loop earlier today...did a little geocaching and then because I am a glutton for punishment I hiked up to the lower falls. Both are good hikes....just different and the difficulty level is harder for the lower falls. This loop trail still gives you a workout because the first part of it is going uphill so ignore the difficulty level rated as easy and give it a try and if it's not enough then go up to the falls....I am sure that will be enough unless you are in incredible shape. have a good one all.

Only hiked up to the base of the first waterfall. Don't have any experience rock climbing or scrambling so I didn't even consider trying to get to the upper falls. If I ever learn I will go back and attempt the full hike. If you want a short, shady hike with a waterfall then try this one and just go to the base of the first waterfall. It was pretty nice just sitting on the big rocks at the falls. If you want some more hiking you can go across the road too and hike around..... pretty nice river down there.

keith favara reviewed Cecret Lake from Albion Basin

was going to the cecret lake trail due to reviews, but got to the booth next to Alta ski resort and after they told me that the paved portion of the road ends and you need to pay i decided to go the free route and go to the ski resort which was free. Glad I did...I started up the trail from the ski resort not knowing what to expect or where I was going really. After hiking up the first trail with wild flowers all around I realized that just up the road a bit was the start of the cecret lake trail so I combined the two....the weather was great.....alot cooler than in the valley and the lake was pretty cool too. For me it was a pretty tough hike.... easily the most elevation that I have gained on a hike(I just moved to Sandy a few days ago) and close to the longest, but well worth it. By not driving up to the cecret lake trail head parking area I saved some dough....got more exercise, saw wild flowers that I wouldn't have seen and I still got to see cecret lake. I am more proud of this than I would have been as I don't think too many people hiked up to the lake from the resort. Bring some water and some food and take your time if needed. On a side note.... there are some geocaches around this hike if you are into that. oh....and when you get back from your hike you can grab a bite to eat in the resort, relax and enjoy the air conditioning and look at the pics you took.

nice hike....really like seeing the rock climbers out there. We did go off the trail for a while....wound up on the hill/mountain next to turtle rock then realized we didn't have have an easy way to get back to the parking lot so we made our way back to the trail and and finished it up. No matter if you stay on the trail or venture off a bit it's worth the trip out here especially if you are not used to seeing the giant rocks....it's pretty amazing seeing them for the first time....and after the first time it's pretty darn good too.
