kayla tahti reviewed Spruce Creek Trail to Mohawk Lake and Continental Falls

This trail is awesome! So much beauty to see. I plan to go back and camp so we can explore more.

Go early to beat the rush.

I love this hike! Second time I have done it. I brought my dog and he had a great time as well. There is a slight balancing act on a few logs to cross a rushing stream. My dog handled it fine, but he's almost 70 lbs.

Beautiful hike. The fall colors are unbelievable right now.

Finding parking was a little tough, so get there early.

Just did this hike and it was one of my favorite all season. The trail is really easy, but you see countless ponds, streams, and three lakes (not counting Brainard). In an incredible mountain setting.

The plants are changing right now, so there is tons of red, purple, and yellow mixed in the greenery. The rocks have a gorgeous array of colors too.

    You won't be disappointed.

FYI- you have to pay to park near the trailhead.

Meant to do the Beaver Brook/Chavez Trail, but ended up starting the Beaver Brook Trail from Lookout Mountain instead. It makes the hike a lot longer, but it's still really pretty. For how close this hike is to the city, there weren't that many people on it on a Sunday afternoon.

I have been waiting to get a chance to do this hike all summer. We got to the trail around 9 a.m. and had to park a half-mile or so away because you're competing with all the people doing the Long's Peak Summit.

Got this done in about 3.5 hours since we sat at the lake and ate for a bit. We saw a moose! This was a gorgeous hike with a lots of great rocks and water to see. The alpine forest was great. Not that many wildflowers, but it was probably the time of year.

    Gorgeous. So much to see!

When you scramble up Timberline Falls, the first lake you hit is not Sky Pond. Keep going to the second lake (that's Sky Pond).

    I loved this hike!

** You need a higher, 4x4 vehicle to get up the road to the loch.** If you don't have one, you can hike to the hike. We did that; it was easy and the views were great.

Loch Lomond is at the base of the hike. Spend some time on the banks and then hike up around the falls to find three more lakes, a few streams, tons of wildflowers, and a giant meadow nestled in the peaks.

The hike was pretty easy and the views were spectacular!!

This is a good cardio workout.

I would go early because there is no shade and parking fills up fast. The city is really active about giving parking tickets too, so make sure you're legally parked.

This is a pretty short hike, but it has a lot of stairs! Good if you want a decent work out in a short amount of time. I would start earlier in the day because the arch gets crowded later in the day.

The views of Boulder at the top are great, and on a clear day you can see downtown Denver.
