This trail was AMAZING! It was well- kept and ran along the water the entire time, opening up in places to view the raging waters and stop for a rest. It wasn’t very difficult, but it was a progressive climb and we kind of hurried up so we breaked a few times to catch our breath.
The view about 250 yards from the actual waterfall makes you think you made it. But up around the corner is the actual falls and SO INCREDIBLE. The walk up had me giddy like a little kid, just in total awe. It was a warm day so we sat where the water was misting on our faces while we ate our snacks. I didn’t want to leave, this hike is just perfect!

**If you are really afraid of heights, this is not the hike for you**
This view is incredible from the 5,685 feet above the rest of its surroundings and we were lucky enough to see all three mountaintops from its vantage point (Rainier / Adams / Mt St Helens). Almost directly behind the fire lookout is St Helen, you can tell by the blown off top, and to the left of that is Mt Adams. It is insane!

The hike itself from the parking lot is quite steep. If you’re in relatively good shape, you’ll be fine getting up there. The last 100 or so yards is rock surface and very scary in my opinion but I’m slightly terrified of heights. If you’ve gone that far, you have to do it and the ground is rough enough that you likely will not lose your footing.

The actual Bldg is quite sturdy and small but I felt comfy once I was on the other side of the bannister as the cliff drop off is literally two steps away from it. The view on a sunny 70 degree day was unbelievable and sort of calms your fears. The hike was amazing, and worth my heart beating out of my chest the entire day. Nothing a beer at the base camp restaurant didn’t solve ;)
