Kado Stewart reviewed Havasu Falls and Mooney Falls Trail

Havasupai is an amazing backpacking trip! Don’t underestimate the sun, even if it’s 70, it will feel much hotter. I recommend backpacking and carrying your gear, not using the mules or horses- if you need assistance with your gear, maybe consider the helicopter. Definitely check out “the jungle”, it was our favorite swimming spot.

The hike is easy but if you do it in the middle of summer and don’t have enough water you may get your butt kicked (..Zona). There are a lot of tour busses and people but the views are worth it.

I’ve been twice- if you want less crowds go during the week. If you go on the weekends there are so many people :( no matter when you go though, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t worry about having a fancy camera, your iPhone or Android will capture great pictures. Yes you have to take a guide. There are a lot of stairs but good for almost any level and age. You won’t be disappointed.

The cliff dwelling make it worth dealing with crowds. Good quick “walk”, more than a hike. The stairs are the only thing that will get you a little winded.

I used to guide backpacking trips on this trail when I was 18 and 19 (32 now!) The full hike was amazing, yes mosquitos, yes cold at night, yes very rainy- but totally worth it for the pristine wilderness and waterfall (see my b and w photo) hoping to go back next year and do this trail again :)

Great for a quick workout, but I tend to go when no one is up there somehow and I can’t help but have this Erie feeling..

I guide hikes up Camelback, love the trail & terrain. Try to go really early to avoid crowds- don’t hike it when it’s over 100.. Echo canyon is my preferred route

Beautiful, easy hike. Just wish it was a bit more off the road. I always see chuckwallas and last time a 4 foot diamondback

One of my favorite spots! True there can be a lot of people up to Humphrey’s saddle- but every time I go up and over I can spend most of the day with out seeing another person. You can’t go wrong with peralta either way- some of the best views around

This is a great hike but make sure you are not hiking when it is getting hot- bring lots of water. I always see a few tarantulas hiding under rocks

I backpacked the entire trail in the rainy season which made for some seriously sloppy terrain on the edge of some very sketchy goat paths about 5 miles in- IT WAS AWESOME. I also had a run in with some GIANT cockroaches (and bull frogs who were feasting on them)... don’t stay in the Forrest during rainy season if you want to avoid getting crawled on by these. One of the best trips I’ve taken ❤️
