One of my new favorite hikes. Keep heading past the falls and Van Trump Park to Mildred Point via unimproved trail for a great view of Rainier.

Informative hike that's good for a warm up.

Not too busy if you go early enough in the morning.

Decent hike, not too far of a drive. If you stay to the right where the trail forks on your way to the falls you can add some mileage. Or veer to the left up the steeper initial route for a shorter trip. Bring bug spray for the trail head area.

Trail was very muddy. Hit the trail head following the directions provided by the AllTrails app. Next time I would probably try entering through the Pack Forest on the other side. There's a decent maze of side trails, it's pretty easy to navigate to the upper and lower falls though. There was a decent crowd surrounding the rail bridge and the upper falls, if you make it down to the lower falls though it's not too bad.

Trek was rough, the top was totally worth it though.

Be prepared for an onslaught of chipmunks and lady bugs under the look out tower.

Access to Goat Creek is closed by the Port Blakely Tree Farm Company due to extreme fire hazard. Will likely be closed the rest of the Summer.

Trail head was approximately 20 miles from where All Trails lead us. From FS Road 25, drive about 17 miles to FS Road 2516. Drive about 6 miles up and park in a gravel cul-de-sac just before a plaque that has the creed of the Strawberry Mountain lookout post.

Trail is kind of cool, a bunch of volcanic rock and ash with a good view of the lava dome on St. Helens. We turned back early because of the heat, the dogs were pretty smoked.
