Jim Whitson reviewed Cumberland River South Fork: Alum Ford Campground to Yamacraw

Alum Ford to Yamacra is around 6.5 miles point to point. This is a mostly easy trail with several nice sights to see. This follows the BSFR. At 2 miles there is a shelter over looking the river. An old homesite is just before this overlook and even before this there is an old gravesite, about 1 mile from start of trail.

Nice easy trail, mostly follows an old road. Nice views of the Big South Fork River. Great for little ones too. Take your time and explore the area.

the water was flowing really well today. Creek was high, even the BSF was very high. To see another nice falls, when the water is flowing well, don't go up the stairs to the parking lot. Follow the trail to the Sheltowee Trace trail and go around the cliff line (will be on your left). Pass a wooden bridge, look left and there is a nice falls. Once pass the bridge take the trail left and go up the switch backs to the top. This is a short hike and will take you back up to the parking lot.
