Great hike that's close to Denver. We started from the Chief Hosa trail head and saw very few others on the trail. As another reviewer mentioned, taking Beaver Brook trail to Chavez is a great loop. Took us about 3 hours and my guess was it's 3.5 miles or so. Tons if shade so it's great for sunny hot days. The map at the trail head didn't show the Chavez trail which was confusing, hopefully they update it soon.

Incredible views over three different lakes for almost the entire hike. Silver Dollar Lake is the middle lake and the most colorful. The lake above it (Murray Lake) is beautiful as well. There were probably only 20 other hikers on the trail, so we were alone most of the time. You can fish in the lakes if you'd like.

The trail gains most of it's elevation at the beginning. Once you look out over the first lake, it's mostly flat all the way to Silver Dollar Lake. You can hike up to the 3rd and topmost lake but it is a steeper trail. It took us about 30 more minutes to get to there.

We mis-read the directions to get here. It was about 1 mile before you get to the main viewing area at Guanella Pass. The GPS provided by AllTrails worked well to get us there.

Brilliant colors after the tree line this Fall. Loved the small stream crossings and meadows. The waterfall was beautiful too. The trail was steep at times. We had a lot of fun and would love to come back in spring to see the flowers.

This trail is at Golden Gate Canyon State Park. It had beautiful views and often had steep trails (instead of switchbacks). We had a diverse group, from 8 to 70 years old. The steep trail at times made it more difficult than we were expecting. My 8 yr old niece did well, but if we were to do it over, we would have chosen an easier trail.

We started at the campgrounds and descended down the hillside before the long ascent to the Continental Divide viewing area (Panorama Point). It was a fun trail. The only thing I didn't like was the proximity to the road. You essentially hike to a parking lot at Panorama Point which made it a lot less fun. Still, an incredible view up there. And it would be a great place to have a picnic.

Also note that when we were there, a trail sign that was supposed to say "Panorama Point -- .3 miles ahead" had the "." scratched out so it looked like it said "3 miles ahead". In looking at others photos, it seems other signs have been defaced similarly.

A pleasant variety of terrain and scenery. There were streams, small bridges, a small waterfall, a large dam built in the 1800's, and scenic cliff views. We hiked a 6 mile loop by combining the trails. We were tired but not exhausted. The trails were well kept too.
