Jeremy Upham reviewed Finger Rock Canyon Trail to Mt Kimball

Beautiful hike in north Tucson. Made it maybe 3-4 miles in but had to turn back due to time constraints. Gorgeous views of Tucson. Amazing Mountain View’s. Rocky but not sure why it’s rated as hard, maybe I didn’t make it far enough up the trail. Easy trailhead to find. Looking forward to going farther when I have more time.

Awesome short hike. No issues with staying on the trail with the help of this apps map feature. Took about 1:20hrs to do the entire loop. The only thing I didn’t care for was the trail is so rocky you have to look down while hiking so I missed a lot of the beautiful views unless I stopped. Looking forward to another round here:)

Great hike with amazing views of Tucson and up into the canyon. Some fairly technical hiking over loose rock but nothing too bad. We really enjoyed this trail with our 12yr old daughter.

Gorgeous views. My favorite so far in AZ. A strenuous hike, especially back but well worth it! I highly recommend. Trails are not marked very well so bring a GPS if you have one.

Hiked the loop on 11/19/17. Great little hike with amazing views. Not really strenuous but some rocky sections/slanted trail if you have glass ankles. Saw a lot of mountain bikers and a few horses during the hike. I will advise to bring the AllTrails app or a good GPS with you as the trail is not marked well at all. Verizon coverage is good here. Several side trails to get lost on. I used the map on this app a lot to see where I was. Had to ask directions to find the trailhead. Fun day hike, bring plenty of water. No place to refill out there.

Great little hike. Paved road all the way up. Took about 1.5 hrs up and down with stops to enjoy the views. Some quite steep sections to get the heart pumping. A local favorite and lots of people out enjoying this hike. I’ll definitely do it again. Probably a lot:)

Let me begin by saying this was a beautiful hike with several types of forest. We did this hike May 24, 25, 26th 2014. We saw no one at all on the trail for three days and I think I know why. We hiked the entire loop clockwise from the picnic area. I hiked with two other guys that are in excellent physical condition, run marathons, and are experienced backpackers. I needed to say that so I didn't sound like a crybaby. There were little to no scenic views on this trip this time of year. Not much wildlife. The hike was rated "difficult" but in my opinion it was "You're gonna regret it dummy!". Constant very steep inclines and very steep declines left our body's screaming for it to stop. Collectively over the 30 or so miles I would estimate less than 1 mile was fairly flat. Water was very scarce and down extremely difficult descents in order to fill up. I would recommend a very good map not like the one they give at the ranger station. If you're going to do this hike I would strongly recommend training for it months in advance. It was crazy! I certainly have no desire to do it again.

Great area. We met a group of families at the campground for 2 nights. I was very pleased with this entire area. Lake and beach were beautiful. We had awesome weather so that helped. Plenty of hiking, biking, fishing. Everyone there was enjoying themselves. Definitely a "do again" for us.

Beautiful park and surrounding area! Big South Fork is a must see. The campground Rangers went out of the way to socialize and assist when we needed anything. We tent camped with another family (both of us had kids). Playground was in our back yard. Rained two days but even in the rain it was fun. Bath houses were very nice. Clean, flat sites. The only downfall was the pool has been closed by the state in an effort to save money. Bad call! We hiked to Yahoo Falls and I would recommend the "steps" trail to the bottom. Even though the water was not very big the view and amazing huge room/cave under the falls was breathtaking. By talking to other campers there is much more to see and do so I will be back to this area in the future with my hiking shoes, bike, and kayak for sure.

OK trail. I took a child and she did great. The area around this trailhead appears to be a less than safe area. I was a bit concerned with leaving my vehicle at the trailhead but turned out to be fine (I do admit I may go a little overboard with my safety issues). Some trash and road noise from I-75. The hike was average and the falls were beautiful. We only hiked to the bridge and back due to my 8 yr old daughters limitations but will return to do the Devil's Racetrack in the future. I have a feeling once you get further into the trail it would be cleaner and more natural sounds other than Harleys and trucks. It was a nice hour or two mid day hike with the family. Wear good shoes as there were lots of rocks, roots, and some mud this time of year.
