Not sure if it was because of the heat or the climb but I found this hike to be pretty difficult! There is a short flat section as you hike along the ridge line but the rest of the 2.4 miles to the summit is a fairly steep climb. There is only one or two shade spots so be safe, wear a hat, take it slow in heat, and bring lots of water.

Beautiful views! Enter the PCT across the road from the parking area and go through pipe gate (there will be three gates total). Lovely hike through open oak woodland habitat out to the plains and rolling hills. Super windy and exposed so bring lots of water.

Lovely, well-maintained trail. Very exposed so bring lots of water. Stay left at the trail intersection to make you way up to the ridge where they are some chairs to rest on and take in the views. Once you hit the main ridge line, look for the chairs to the right so as not to miss the tiny path up to them.

I love to come to the trail when I have a free morning to explore a bit. You can go as far as you wish or do the full loop. It is lovely to walk through some healthy open oak woodland for the first mile or so (much appreciated shade!). The dogs love exploring here as well. Well maintained, wide trail. Don't stray too far to the edges off the trail, lots of poison oak like many other places in San Diego.
