Unbelievably fun hike. The Muir snow field is unrelenting though. Muir Camp always seems just over the next hill and then it gets twice as far away when you crest the hill! Total time ROUND TRIP was 6 hours, not sure how it takes most people 5 hours one way. I stopped to film a ton of photos and videos, plus an hour of relaxing in the sunshine at Muir Camp, and it still only took from 1:45pm to 7:45pm to complete. Amazing hike that now makes me want to do the final 4000’ to the summit next summer!

Not Impressed with this trail...until I saw Mount Louis.

I trail ran the Cory Lass Trail and had absolutely no idea what I was in for. It was a gnarly steep trail to run, so steep that in many spots I had difficulty even walking uphill without sliding backwards. I ran (crawled) 8 miles with 3,501 feet of elevation gain in 3 hours and 42 minutes.

When I reached the pass, I was blown away by the scene looking out the other side; the summit of Mount Louis as the sun was setting on her sheer granite face. After such a long and miserable uphill battle, this scene made me smile from ear to ear.

As I sat at the pass and watched the sun set on this peak, I could hear rock climbers, but they were so small in comparison that I couldn’t locate them, even with my telephoto lens.

For a bit of perspective, look at the Sublapine Fir trees at the base of the summit. They’re 100 feet tall.

Kayaked out from Lanakai today, much easier than going this route. .8 miles each way. 2 beautiful monk seals and plenty of sea turtles. I recommend hiking around the back of the island (to the left) and jumping in the amazing pool at the far back side. Such a fun little hike and swim. Be careful if you’re not an experienced swimmer though; it takes good timing for the jump and the exit from the water due to the currents and the swell.

Such a fun hike! Very steep relative to most other hikes I’ve found in Oahu. 1.5 hours up to the second peak with plenty of photo stops. 45 minutes down.

Really rad hike that follows the stream up to and epic waterfall. Lots of bouldering and off-trail hiking through bamboo forests along the way. Had a blast in the pouring rain!

    Amazing hike!

Took 2.5 hours to summit and 2.25 hours to return. AMAZING weather; zero wind, full sunshine, 68 degrees on November 24, 2017.

    Do it!!

Absolutely LOVED this trail. Found it to be very difficult and very scenic. Took us 5 hours with lunch and 100+ photos.

I hiked this trail to the very end, and LOVED it. We camped overnight as well. Easily one of the most unique trails on the continent.

This trail is fun, but is RIDICULOUSLY short. Someone screwed up Alltrails and posted that this was a 3 mile hike, so I went to do it today and found out that even with all of the side trails, I only walked a mile. This is a half mile trail, about 1 mile as a loop. It's odd that it's so tiny, considering the expanse of area around the pond...I was hoping that it would be identical to Colchester Pond, where you have a large loop that goes around the entire body of water. This trail barely leaves the parking lot. I had fun on it, but I caution you that the trail is VERY poorly marked, and at least 10 times I had to stop and look 360 degrees to find a trail marker (and usually didn't) because the trail either split and went multiple directions, or nowhere at all. There were at least 5 random trail spurs that went off in totally different directions, all unmarked. I'm a big off-trail person, so I followed every one of them, and did the whole trail twice today to make sure I wasn't missing something...but in the end I realized that yes, this trail really is that short.

One of my favorite short hikes! always see amazing flora and fauna (see my photos) and always have a great time; this hike is a steady incline from halfway up to the top; it's a great quick afternoon hike. The views are spectacular and there's plenty to see on the way up from birds, to mushrooms, to wildflowers. I do this one at least twice every summer, if not more; when I'm short for time.

Fun easy hike! Extremely similar to Niquette Bay State Park in distance and flora/fauna. Hiked it in mid-October with no problems with mud or water except in the farm fields that you pass through at the end. This would be a great trail run, minus all of the fallen leaves and pine needles.

Easily (by far) my favorite hike in Vermont. You get a incredible variety of forest types, altitudes, and scenery in a 3 hour hike; more than I've found anywhere else so far. Most guide books say that this is a 4-5 hour hike, but with my excessive stopping to photograph mushrooms and trees, plus lunch at the top, and an extra hour searching fruitlessly for one of the largest glacial potholes in New England, it took us under 3.5 hours. The entire trail was dry save for the alpine forest, which is pretty much permanently wet, which made for an incredible hike. We only saw 3 people on the way up, plus about 5 on the top, and 2 on the way down...which is my type of hike! I'm secretly hoping that most people never discover this hike!
