The Lyons Lake trail (and the forks to Lyons Lake and Lake Sylvia) isn't to be missed, and is a great way to approach climbing any of the peaks in the Crystal Range such as Mt. Price, Agassiz, and the tallest mountain in the range, Pyramid Peak.

The trail begins off Wright Lake Road in the El Dorado National Forest, so if you'd like to have a campfire you can (certain times of the year) pull a permit and camp just outside of the Desolation Wilderness (there is a sign letting you know when the Wilderness begins). If you're early in the season, make sure to bring LOTS of bug spray as the mosquitos are thick and evil.

Great diversity of climate/flora/fauna and incredible views of waterfalls, redwoods, the ocean and Karl the Fog. The 1.5K+ in elevation climb is a blast!
