This path is closed however their is another pass that takes you to the top called Chittenden Road. It follows a maintenance road up the mountain that the rangers use. I’m in really good shape and found nothing difficult about this trail. I went up it in just over an hour and then trail ran down in 20 minutes. The views are awesome. Start early.

I thought it was a pretty easy hike. I showed up at 4:30 am and TH was nearly full. Get there around then or sooner if you want parking. I did it in shorts and a sweatshirt and was sweating while it was about 45 degrees. You know what your body is like, be prepared for the cold if you’re not used to it. (Some background: I am extremely conditioned and in probably the best shape of my life. I passed a lot of people short on breath while I never needed to stop to catch my own, I kept a consistent pace the whole way up. I’m doing the Incline down in Colorado Springs in just under 32 minutes currently and jogging down Barr Trail afterwards and feel amazing afterwards. Hopefully this helps you compare a bit.)

I started at 3:30 am and couldn’t believe how many people I passed. There was a lot of people on this trail. If I did it again I would start even earlier. Still an awesome hike/climb.

Did this hike a few weeks back, it was a really good warm up for more challenging peaks in the future. If you pay attention and look for the trail and use some common sense it’s a pretty simple hike. It was rocky and you do need to watch your footing though, I watched a few people slipping around on the loose gravel. Great view of the Air Force Academy.

Joshua Nowicki reviewed The Loch Lake Trail via Glacier Gorge Trail

Turn it into a loop and start at the south side of Bear Lake, then follow signs to Nymph, then Dream and Emerald lake. Backtrack and go to Lake Haiyaha, then on to Loch Vale. Go past Loch Vale for two more lakes, Glass Lake and Sky pond. On the way back from Loch Vale hit Alberta falls. There are lots of signs to help you with directions. It’s an amazing hike that was a little over 12 miles. Totally worth it. Start early to avoid all the crowds.

Beautiful trail. If you park at the 2WD parking lot it’s an extra 2.7 miles one way. I did the hike to Humboldt in one morning, didn’t see a single person until I made it to the South Colony lakes. One of the best hikes I’ve done in Colorado. It would be an awesome overnighter trip for the future.

Joshua Nowicki reviewed Bridal Veil Falls Via Lumpy Ridge Trails

The trail is extremely well marked and has some amazing views. I went to gem lake first then to the falls afterwards, then followed the signs for black canyon back to the parking lot. It was Sunday morning and I showed up at 6:30am. I saw maybe all of 20 people during the hike, and it took me 6.5 hours to complete it round trip. Saw some bear on the way and had the falls to myself for the 45 minutes I was there. The only thing that would be a challenge with this trail is the distance, my Fitbit had the hike at 13.3 miles. When I started it was 47 degrees Fahrenheit, by the time I finished it was 92 outside. I drank 1.5L of water. The only recommendation I would really say is use sunscreen if you are going to do the whole loop. The final stretch of trail goes from a wooded area to a field, the sun will bake you without it.
