Perfect hike for any level hiker. The elevation can be tough at first. But your body adjust. Epic views in all directions. When the rhododendrons blooms it’s one of top spots on East Coast. Photographers travel from around the world for this event.

These are some of the best views on the East Coast!! One of the best trails ever. Great spot for Astrophotography and camping.

Easy short hike to some amazing waterfalls. Usually lots of people here. Hard to get good pictures unless you go early or late on week day.

Epic hike! Tough creek crossings in high water. Prepare to hike this in wet feet the entire time. Your reward is a aqua green swimming hole and the devils bathtub if water levels are low.

This is a really cool trail, but packs a punch. Climbing down to the falls can be very sketchy in wet conditions. I would not take kids on this trail as a fall could result in death in some spots. We did see a black bear on this trail. Parking area is hard to find and no sign.

This hike is a hidden gem. Top notch photography location. Hike gets a little rough toward main falls. Lots of loose rock. Wear good boots.

Epic short hike to an amazing falls. Very cool camping locations near the falls. Beware aware of Black Bear in area. When water levels are high this trail really transforms into something special.

Deep woods trail that makes you feel like you are deep in the wilderness. Which that isn’t far from the truth. I prefer to cut off this trail and go visit Lower Dicks Creek Falls.

One of the best trails in the area! Whether you start at Cove or in Hampton both trails are very scenic and beautiful. Either way you won’t be disappointed.

This is a great little trail that really comes alive in heavy rain seasons. Water features are awesome and great spot for photography in many areas.

Great place to take a safe long bike ride. Packed gravel and pretty decent scenery make this for a great spot for a spin.

Amazing place to take a run or bike ride. You can actually extend this to a 18-20 mile bike ride if you keep going on sidewalks past exchange place. Beautiful creek and a small waterfall also.

Not worth the effort for the view. Needs to have trees cut down for a better view. Much better option is to main trail to falls.

I would not rate this trail easy. I hike 2-3 days a week and found this trail to be pretty tough from a cardio standpoint. The climb in and out I would rate moderate to strenuous. Great views of lake and a small waterfall.

I did this hike in Autumn and was not very impressed. The views were not very good and at the time no water was found anywhere. Much better trails in the area. But if you are looking for something different then it’s a decent hike.

So this trail is better for Mountain Biking than hiking. Although still one of the best choices if you are going to hike second to Magic Carpet Ride for the view from the top. Rock City has a small waterfall on it also.

Not my favorite hike at Bays Mountain but if you have never been to the fire tower then it’s worth the trip. Mostly easy hike until the climb to the tower and that section is pretty strenuous. Great views from the top in winter time but mostly blocked by trees in summer. Unless you are brave enough to climb up into tower.

Great little trail with a few hidden gems. This trail can be very challenging in Spring or Winter when water levels are up. There are a few Creek crossings depending on how far you go and if you seek the lesser known Kiner Falls or Logger Falls. Overall great scenery with high chance of seeing a deer and maybe a black bear.

Josh T reviewed Little Stony Falls Trail

    ***WARNING***
    ***DANGER***

As of 3/3/18 there was a mud slide near the viewing platform of the main falls. The trail has been washed away leaving a 40 foot drop mud slide ledge. If hiking from Hanging Rock viewing upper falls will be very difficult or very dangerous. If hiking from northern trail head you will not be able to make it to base of main falls without a very dangerous shimmy across a 40 foot drop or a strenuous re-route through loose leaf covered boulders and thick mountain laurel. Repair of this section will be very difficult to achieve also.

Amazing place to hang out or hike. There are so many different viewpoints and trails here in this area that you can see something different everytime. My favorite trail is the one leading down to the bottom of the falls. Its a tough little hike, but worth it for sure. Love this place.

I did this hike in Autumn and the trees and scenery were beautiful. If you are going for the waterfall you may decide the hike isn't worth the effort for what you get to see. But if you are going to just enjoy nature and the scenery then its a great hike with plenty of ups and downs.
