    Jorge Hernandez reviewed Baker Mountain

The first hike of the year after my winter hibernation, as everyone has mentioned it is a little steep. Took us longer since I am not in the best of health, took me 40 min going up but well worth it. There is only one spot where you could enjoy the view and the rest of the space is great to just sit and relax.

First mountain climb I’ve done. What an amazing experience. It took me 4 hours round trip, depends on your fitness level you could add or take time off, and I’m not very fit. The only negative is that depending on the time of day the trail can be congested. Bring gloves (some rock climbing) and a jacket (top is usually windy). The last mile seems to just be nothing put elevation. Put the view wow so worth it.

Beautiful trail, we started on the “gorge trail” which has 8 bridges that cross the dry creek. We did some creek walk but that was to get better pictures. Then we planned to go to the dam, but we never made it unless we just did not find it. We did not take the “north rim trail” back due to us looking for the dam and us ended up on the snowmobile trail to lope back. In total, it was a 5 miles loop around.

Not much of a hike, to get a good few of the waterfall you have to go on a homemade latter and cross some rocks.

If you want a challenge do the Rim trail first which is a little over 2 miles but going up the stairs will be a work out. As you work your way up you will see Lucifer Falls. At the end you could go back the same trail or just loop around and you’ll be at Gorge trail which follows along Lucifer falls and to Lower Falls. Very fun but not for beginners due to the elevation, but the trail is mark well.

It’s a view only, small water fall from the roadside. The bridge to overlook the water (and where I took the picture) was on posted property. There is a place to walk down and enjoy the water but again its posted land.

Beautiful fall but it’s not a hike. Nice place to picnic also about .5 miles down the road there is a park just in case you have little ones. There is a way down but you have to climb over a fence which I’m sure its frown upon, and it’s more of at your own risk.

Last minute decided to see this fall, it was around 6pm and overcast. Light walk towards the fall, in order to go see the fall just have to cross a creek then up a steep bank to the top and walk behind the falls. I think because of the light rain it provided a strong current and flow, so I was very lucky. I try to go on the trail to see the pond on the end of it but the rain made it difficult since I didn’t have rain gear.

I access the water fall on Button Falls Road just before a bridge (which I parked on the side of road). From the bridge you could see the small crest (about 5 feet) the leads into the large fall (about 40 feet). To see the larger fall you need to go down a small path alone the bridge (facing west cross bridge go down left hand side). What is nice about this is the access to the small crest which you could get your feet wet. Hard to see full Falls due to leaves. Not much of a hike about a hundred meters, also bring bug spray. Will try to gain access to lower level of Fall by hiking up stream (if possible).

The path directly to the waterfall is very short (less than ½ mile) and very steep. Once you reach the bottom you have to option of walking behind the water fall. I did and the rocks very slippery and the force of the waterfall strong. I also follow the water downstream for an incredibly creek walk. Its very challenging so take your time. The creek walk will take you to the top one of the waterfalls hidden. Again take caution when doing the creek walk.
