I was raised for a good chunk of my life in Utah. I hadn't ever seen our landmark until last year, and it wasn't until I walked around that corner, unsuspecting, and saw "Delicate Arch" that it all made sense. You don't see the arch until that point (unless you cheated and went to the overlook), and when you look up at that first time and see it, all those license plates suddenly make sense. Love it.

My favorite arch. It's surreal how that thing holds itself together. I wish the trail still let you walk under it, I'd love to see this thing from a different angle.

Also, fun fact. This arch was originally named "Delicate Arch", the names were criss-crossed at one point on a map and have stuck as they are. Funny how that works.

A good walk. I ate lunch here with a group of friends in an open area near the arch. It was beautiful weather, sunny, clear skies. There were some locals hanging out in the canyon, playing Mumford & Sons. We ate our sandwiches, and listened to them practice. It was great. Another two minute walk and we were to the arch. It's beautiful, very photogenic. I set my camera on a tripod, and climbed to the top of the arch to take cheesy photos with my group. Clouds came in pretty fast, and the wind picked up exponentially. It became a sandstorm, then a monsoon. I felt like one of those storm chaser guys grabbing my tripod and equipment. We completed the return trip in record time, and played cards in the car until the storm passed (about ten minutes, because it's Utah). I can't think of a better lunch in my life.

This is more of a walk than a hike. Really, it's the equivalent of taking the stairs over the elevator. That being said, these are beautiful arches. They attract hundreds of people hourly durring the summer months. It's comparable to Yosemite at times, so good luck getting a photo without people in it. I would recommend going early to avoid the crowds, if you're into that. Honestly though, the arches are beautiful. Standing between them is surreal, and it's a good reminder of just how small you are. Most of us need that.

A local favorite. Park at the LDS church in town to avoid paying the $10 fee, it'll add ten minutes to your hike, and give you the satisfaction of sticking it to whatever town official enacted the parking ordinance.
I've hiked this trail numerous times in the autumn, spring, and summer. I prefer late summer just before the leaves start to turn. I would recommend going at night if you haven't thought to already. Get a gallon of water in an old milk container and a flashlight. hold the flashlight against the jug and you've got yourself a pretty sweet lantern. Use that to navigate the canyon and you'll feel like a kid again. Highly recommend.
