The hike was extremely easy on a well maintained path. The views were ok, but nothing to rave about with all the other options around Breckenridge. The hike itself is easy, but if you are a flat-lander like us the elevation can really get to you. Reading about the mines and seeing the old rusty cars was cool. On the map it looks like there is a creek about quarter mile further... there isn't.

We took a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek on Boreas Pass Road with no issues. We opted to do it "backwards" and finish in Breckenridge, which I highly suggest. No matter what way you do it, you will end up on the cliff side. The road will narrow at points, but nothing to really worry about as long as everyone is being courteous. Plenty of areas to stop and get some great photographs. The cabin and rail car at the top was interesting to read about. We didn't see any wildlife, not sure if we were just unlucky or what. If you want an easy, well maintained road, then this is a good beginner option.

Downside is it is heavily trafficked, upside it offers a fun trail with jaw dropping views.

Everything after mile 3 was extremely difficult to the summit. My girlfriend and I packed 4.5 liters of water and went through 3 on the way up. There’s a refilling station at the top which we didn’t know, so you could probably pack a little less.

Boots are needed and I saw lots of people with hiking poles. Saw a couple people unprepared and they def looked like they felt the pain.

We hiked the extra almost mile to myrtle point and I’m glad we did. We enjoyed lunch completely secluded by ourselves, which was a nice change of pace to the hike. I highly suggest doing it.

In total we were at 12 miles and 7 hours (including rests and a picnic). This really is a difficult hike, but it is so rewarding!

Saw too many people unprepared. Just because it is the half way point in caves cove loop it doesn’t make it easy. Bring enough water!

Also saw too much trash. Come on man!

4 miles total if you are only going for the waterfall, which I recommend. Cemetery was very interesting. Waterfall felt like an enchanted forest very happy we decided to do this hike. The paved portions I would classify as easy, but the mile to and from the fall is a tad bit more difficult. Took us an hour and 45 min which included several stops for photos. We went about 5 and with the sun coming down it made the waterfall that much better.
