Impressive view of the Green River Narrows! From the trailhead, it’s just under 2 miles to the steep dirt path that leads down to the narrows. The path will be on your right. We walked right past it and didn’t realize it until we eventually got to another trail and turned back around. The actual trail is pretty easy...BUT as for the path that leads down to the narrows, holy moly! There are multiple ropes to hold on to but it is VERY VERY STEEP! Be prepared to go very slow on the way down and to sweat your booty off on the way back up!!! Take your time!! We enjoyed the views of the narrows and watched the kayakers.
Great trip! If you don’t plan on doing the trek down to the narrows, I’d probably skip this trail...it’s buggy, cob webby, and not all that exciting otherwise.

The falls are very pretty. We did this last minute at the end of a long day and we weren’t prepared for the uphill journey ALL the way back. It’s downhill all the way to the falls and then of course uphill going back. We didn’t do the loop because it was a longer trail and we were short on time and energy. Thousands and thousands of rocks and roots along the trail...be careful not to twist or break your ankle! Probably wouldn’t take my 5 year old for that reason.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in WNC ❤️ Absolutely stunning! BUT...the very bumpy gravel road it takes to get there is a little sketchy!! We drove our Xterra with no problems and we saw minivans, old cars, and Jeeps driving it too...it looks scarier than it is but just wanted to forewarn. The trailhead is marked very well from the gavel road so you can’t miss it! A definite must see—easy walk!

Whoa! My body hasn’t worked that hard in a long while! We arrived at the trailhead around 9:30 AM and it took us nearly til noon to get to the summit. I would suggest hiking early in the summer heat/humidity. Took us less than 2 hours to get back down. There are long range views for miles and miles at the summit!! I agree with a previous reviewer though, that the hike is a little monotonous with ALL the switchbacks. I prefer more mountain views. Regardless, my body is sore so I know I got a good workout. Take more water than you usually would. We drank everything we had and shared some with a guy who had none. Wouldn’t recommend for young children unless you intend to carry them!

The falls are very pretty, but I was very disappointed in the “hike” to get to the falls. It’s all on gravel service roads. Also, there really aren’t any views of mountains which I prefer. This is rated as an easy hike, but there was a decent elevation change several times. Maybe it was just the summer heat and humidity, but I was pretty miserable most of the hike. We parked at the Fawn Lake access and took the Fawn Lake Rd trail up to the Airstrip Trail then crossed over to the Conservatory Rd trail and onto the Bridal Veil Falls trail...maybe there was an easier way?? BUT—the falls are very pretty!!
PS: if you want to get wet and swim and stay for a while, there’s a nice mountain lake not far into the hike. If we’d been prepared, we would’ve stayed there and swam. Didn’t see any place to pay a fee so I assume it’s free. People brought in tents and coolers and chairs. We’ll definitely go back just for that!

Ohmigosh! This hike was strenuous and the falls were gorgeous! At the trailhead, it states that it takes about 2 hours each way but we completed it in just over an hour each way (and we took several stops because we were so winded). We packed a nice lunch had had the best little picnic on the middle part of the falls. I will definitely do this again! I would not recommend this for young kids or kids that complain a lot. It was UPHILL most of the way up with an elevation gain of around 1000 feet! Well worth the hike. Pictures don’t do it any justice!

Great, easy trail for the whole family! Our 4 year old hiker didn’t complain about the walk at all. Lots of families with dogs, pretty heavily trafficked but didn’t feel crowded at all. Falls are really pretty! We’ll definitely go back when it’s warm outside.

MAKE SURE YOUR DIRECTIONS ARE CLEAR! We followed the GPS directions (from the All Trails app) and never found the trailhead or anything. We really wanted to hike it but we gave up after driving around lost for about 30 mins. We would like to try again sometime though.

I took my adventurous 4 year old daughter on this trail and we loved it! I would have given it 5 stars, but the last half of the loop was "meh"...I'll explain.

Almost immediately after you leave the hikers registration, you walk upon the base of a small waterfall with a great wading-deep swimming hole! Keep walking another minute or so, and there were some other great places to sit and enjoy the nature...or have a picnic.

At the Carrick Creek trailhead, you can go either left or right since it's a loop. My daughter and I wanted to see water (and play in it) so we took a LEFT as the Park Ranger said the falls would be on that side. The hike/walk was great for us! Loved seeing all the tiny waterfalls and places to cool off and take pics along the way. Once we passed all of the fun water places, the hike began to get steeper and the scenery wasn't as enjoyable. If I had known this, we would have turned around and not done the full loop.

When we were done, we ate lunch at the base of the falls and then swam at the swim beach across the street :)

Great hike with beautiful views at the top. We took the John Rock trail off the Cat Gap trail and the views were amazing!! It took us about 3 hours with a toddler and we stopped for lunch at the big rock. Lots of creeks and streams to cross...a little muddy in some areas. We saw lots of dogs. Trail is pretty well groomed. Well worth it!!

TONS of room for the littles to RUN and RUN and RUN!! Multiple grills and picnic tables and even an indoor potty! We didn't even do the trails. Our 3 year old enjoyed just being able to run and the grown ups enjoyed watching from the picnic tables :) We visited for the first time on an unusually warm January day so there was lots of room, but I could definitely see this place getting crowded in the warm months! We will absolutely picnic here in the future!
