Relatively vertical and short trail. It's fully paved and quite shaded. Also, if you dread the trail but want to see the sights, a van will take you to the top. There is another trail connected to it that is much longer if you want to make more of a day hike out of it. The view from the top is one of the best in GA and the visitor center there is VERY informative.

Worth every step! If your knees are a bit weary you can take a gondola lift down, but I watched almost every age, shape, and skill level finish this short hike. Just remember, gum goes on the pole, not on the stroll ;})

Great day hike! We got to the top via the wide trail to the left after the bathroom area and are SO glad we did. It made finding the rock trail on the south side of the top a fantastic surprise. We took the rockier south west trail on the way back down. Spectacular views! Took two hours to get to the top and an hour and fifteen minutes to come down. Bring water, there's nowhere to refill.
