Read Shelby Blosky's review below - do NOT go up the right side of the last open area before the summit. I hate to admit that we went up the right (not knowing which route to go) and it was not fun. Cross the open area and ascend the last portion of the trail along the tree line. Most of the trail from the Beehive split is narrow but the views are AMAZING!! Not too difficult of a hike if you follow these directions.

Phelps with Tabletop made for a nice 8.5 hour hike. The last mile of Phelps felt like the longest mile!

We did the Summit Trail. Was a little difficult to find it's entrance due to a road closing. Hike took approximately 3.5 hours round trip including a small lunch at the summit. Beautiful view of the northeaster side of Lake George. Summit was small and crowded but we met some great hikers and enjoyed our time up there. Trail started moderately but became a little steep in places. Was also slippery in a few places but a recommended hike!

Approximately 3.5 hours round trip. A little steep in places but moderate in difficulty for the most part. Great views at the summit and plenty of room to eat lunch and explore.

Wouldn't consider this an easy hike - more of a moderate as there are some steep areas. Only a couple of hours round trip and it can get busy towards the summit as there is a picnic area that also can be driven to. Very nice views at the summit with quite a bit of room.
