08/26/19: Myself, husband and 2 rough collies hiked this trail for the second time. As stated in the description, this is a loop trail and just over 4 miles. It took us 2 hours. Now we are from “flat Florida” and our dogs only go for about a .20 mile walk around the neighborhood in FL. That being said at 3 and 5 years old, they did great on the moderate trail, which definitely had some steep sections. This time we went to the right at the start (towards the “falls” sign). This section is more up hill, in our opinion. Whether you start left or right, obviously it climbs but we felt that if you start left, it is slightly more gradual in the elevation rise. Over the whole trail, I would say about 70% of it is challenging, between rocky and root laden terrain and elevation changes. But overall a really nice hike. We will hike it again.

This was a short and easy hike. We went on a Thursday and it was moderately traveled. The view at the top was outstanding! 360 degrees. It was a clear, warm day, so we did have the poplar weebles at the top which was interesting. At first we thought they were ticks but the ranger explained what they were.

We had a beautiful hike with our 2 dogs on this brisk winter day. At the suggestion of other people we did take the route to the left,’to start the loop. That took us along the River for quite some distance,’and with the trees being thinned our for the winter,’it was lovely. We will say the footing is a bit precarious, so don’t rush through. And don’t kiss the waterfall at the end,’it is just off the loop.

We had a great time in this easy trail with our 2 dogs! The new steps and bridges add to the enjoyment of the hike! We would definitely recommend it!

We hiked this with our 2 dogs and it was an easy route! The path starts on the south end of the parking lot and looks like a dirt vehicle path. Stay on that for a bit until you see 2 boulders with a narrower, rustic path to your left, that leads into the woods. That path climbs a bit and then drops down and you go through 2 more boulders where is joins another path. Stay to the left on that path and to the next, where you will make a left again. Eventually, you come to signage for Wintergreen falls and follow that to the waterfall.
