Must do for anyone traveling through SLO. It's just perfect for a quick day climb. I've seen photos of when the fog is lower than the peak and it's insanely beautiful. Hopefully one of these days I can sit atop the peak with the foggy clouds underneath me.

Came from out of town to hike this a few days ago. In January it was still in the mid 60's and sunny. Perfect weather to hike uphill. Challenging but definitely worth it, it's an incredible 360 view. I underestimated how tough the last 1/4 mile was though it's all steep uphill. But doesn't take long if you don't stop for breaks. 4 miles round trip roughly

Found this hike only because it is directly across from the Hot Springs, there is a sign. I uploaded the picture so whomever would have reference for the trailhead. From the trail tracks it looks as though it may be used more so for bikes and/or motorized bikes but also had some footsteps sprinkled about. It really is lightly trafficked or else people are trying to keep this one a secret as it is very beautiful at the top. As far as difficulty, I used the Jar Trail for reference since it is also rated as 'Hard' the jar trail is hard in the sense that it's a bit dangerous coming back down IMO. It is very steep. This hike really wasn't all that tough for a very athletic person. I would not recommend for someone who does not hike regularly. It is almost all up hill. I repeat, it is almost ALL uphill. For the out of shape person you will be taking breaks frequently. It flattens out about a mile and half/two miles up, then continues on to go uphill to the peak. Unless you're in it for the exercise, it is only noteworthy for a Sunset or Sunrise. Or you otherwise just enjoy nature and being outdoors, then it is lovely as well. I can't imagine how beautiful it would be during the Spring.

Pretty view, great exercise, a little dangerous at times. Not sure if I would take children up here. Sadly it's closed down now. I'm glad I got to experience it before that happened.

I wouldn't call this a hike per say, I also wouldn't come out here during the summer as it is all yellow, brown, and dead. Unless you want to see the sun set with smog in the distance. During the spring or winter, early in the morning it is worth the drive. Otherwise you can go into the Kern Canyon for 45 min and find an actual trail to hike with scenery. That's just my opinion however.

All year round this trail seems to stay beautiful. Especially so during the winter-spring months. The wildflowers are so pretty in their coloring. It puts a smile on your face. Easy to get to, easy trail. This one is in my back pocket if I can't travel very far.

This is a "trail" you would definitely want to do during the spring or winter IMO. Everything is green, the skies are crisp blue early in the morning and all the mountains in the distance are capped with snow. Would not recommend during summer, unless you just enjoy getting burnt and dusty as there are no trees for shade (that I have ever found), but it is nice exercise away from the city I will admit.

I came up to Sunday Peak in the winter months and the road was closed off to get to the trail and I was never able to do it. I had heard it to be gorgeous, but to experience first hand how beautiful the view was this past Sunday (7/17) was pretty shocking. To say the view and feel of the trail is beautiful is just an understatement. I quite fell in love with such a 'forest-y' feel. There were only two groups there. But we passed ways with each other. It was mostly quiet and serene. I recommend doing this hike alone or with someone you love dearly. Will probably go again in the fall. Easily one of my favorites.
