Jesse Puckett reviewed Leatherwood Loop Trail

Great trail! Not too much traffic (we went on a Friday morning). Very rocky in places with a lot of elevation changes. Not for the faint at heart. And make sure you’ve got a good pair of shoes.

It was very dry when we ran this. October. It looks like the trail could flood though after a rain.

Beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Free to get in (donations accepted)

Good trail for BR. nothing too difficult but make sure it’s been dry before you set out. There are some sections that stay muddy it seems almost year round.

A great drive with beautiful scenery. This is an October must as the leaves are beginning to change. It's a scenic byway so it's not a time saver. Meant to drive and look outside----not make time. That in mind. There are plenty places to stop and take it all in.

Close to hiking opportunities, biking, and hotels. This place is great.

A fun hiking trail for intermediate level. Make sure you bring plenty of water in the summer. It gets warm down in the canyon. The trail is easy to find as it winds the canyon rim, but finding a way down is another thing. There are multiple places to descend safely...but they are easily mistaken for other more dangerous routes.

Overall an easy trail even for kids or less experienced hikers. And it's close to OKC (45 minutes). A good hike when it's cold and windy because the canyon walls keep the wind at bay.

Pretty trail. Was nice to find this little gem on my PA traveling. Not too far form pittsburgh either. Easy to moderate at times. Nothing too difficult. Should be easy for a beginner or for moderate hikers.

Beautiful views everywhere. Really enjoyed this hike.

I went during the peak fall foliage season and was greeted with beautiful colors all around the park. Early October was a perfect time to go. Make sure you see all three falls.

Really nice trail in the Baton Rouge area. If you are a beginner they have trails for you...they also have trails that are geared toward the expert level. follow the map and you should be fine.

There are a lot of bail out trails as well so if you just want to get a few miles and that will work to.

If you wanted to you could ride from here to the comite trails. Look for the comite connection at the power line trail section.

last time I was out here it was too
muddy to ride the whole trail.... I'm glad I tried it again because it's worth it.

Good trail for a beginner or expert to get some miles in. They really maximize some elevation changes in a flat area. That said, I rode it on a single speed and had no issue with any of the climbs.

Extremely fun at times, fast and flowing, I will be back especially at night.

Good climbs and kept up nicely. Very good trail for the experienced, but can still be done with kids, although I wouldn't bring an inexperienced child out here. We rode this and my Youngest (6) had a good fall, but he was able to finish.

I came back the next day and rode more than the blue loop, there seems to be a lot more than just 2.2 miles.

Great trail just a little over an hour from OKC. If you can ride the chili-bike festival in February its worth the trip. The trail covers both sides of the lake, has a good mix of singletrack/fire road, buts it is mostly ST. Lots of good climbs and descents.

It gets overrun in parts during the summer. Weeds, ticks, etc. But its still worth the trip.

My wife and I did this trail. It's a very easy trail but steep. She completed it at 7 mo pregnant. Great views from the top. Go on a clear day of possible. It's worth the hike.

My wife and I rode this trail plus quite a bit more in the SF/Golden Gate area. The views from Hawk Hill were amazing.....and also from either side of the bay. This is a must if you have the time. We rented bikes from a shop downtown and rode all day around SF. I hope you do this on a clear day. It's beautiful.

Good trail for mostly intermediate and above. There's a lot of climbing. I ride singlespeed and I finished it. Probably the best trail in the bent creek area. And as close as it is to Asheville....probably the best trail within a 30 minute drive.
    Also
I guess there's been a name change....so look out for "green lick" signs. I don't know....I'm not from around here.

Really nice trail close to Asheville. Awesome downhill after some good elevation change and climbing. It's not really marked well, and there are trails that lead off the main trail so be careful and know where you started.

Great trail for the entire family. We've been here twice now and it's a big hit. The trail is difficult at stages and very rooty. Can be slippery at times. Great views of the river and all the falls. You can take a less strenuous trail to the overlook at Burgess Falls. We chose the more difficult hike and then took a swim below the falls. Water was cold but well worth it!

I took my 11yo daughter out here. She's an experienced trail rider. We rode a lot of each trail and nothing was too technical. Lots of climbing and lots of downhill afterward. A great trail very close to little rock. Locals should be here every weekend.

Did this hike most recently with two kiddos. It was December and cool, but the trail was in good shape. Be careful near the top especially with little kids. Very loose rock and slippery damp rocks.

Good views of the falls from all sides on the trail. Good places above the falls for dipping your head in on a warm Oklahoma day. Overall an easy trail if you're used to scrambling and climbing a little. But a strenuous hike if you're not used to it.

Rode this on a singlespeed and it's a fun ride. Rock gardens, switchbacks, downhill, this place has it all. I've ridden here a handful of times and it never fails to offer a fun time. Good for almost all skill levels. Tough for a newbie but doable with an experienced chaperone.

If it's wet or has rained heavily give it a few days to dry out.

Find a trail map too. It can be tricky to navigate. There are many switchback horse trails that can get you off track

Watch for cactus. They are EVERYWHERE. Take an extra tube.

Good trail system. Roller coaster at times and flat and flowy other times. Looks like they take care of it pretty well. The fire road was rutty. But overall a good trail.

I brought my bike from OK on a road trip and found this gem. I'll be back here. As well as Rocky Knob in Boone.

The app shows this to be less than a mile, however there are more than 8 miles of single to here. I mapped it at 6.7 and I didn't do the Green (beginner) trail.

I really enjoy this trail, there are a lot of technical sections and some steep climbs. If you're really wanting some downhill speed take the orange loop it's about 8 miles and there's a lot of go-fast sections. I wrote it on a single speed and for the most part didn't have to walk it.
