Jesse Pena reviewed Peekamoose and Table Mountains Trail

Hiked this section of trail a few times in the past couple of weeks on different trips in both directions. Nice steep climbs as you close in on Table, reliable spring and shelter as well. Nice views reward the hard work.

Full traverse this weekend, south to north. Great trail. Steep inclines, scrambles, flat and rolling terrain. 3 lean-to's along the way, with Big Hill the halfway point. It is said this is the toughest trail in the park. It was certainly very strenuous in several sections.

Great preserve for easy hiking, back country camping, hunting and a mountain bike heaven. Mix of marked an unmarked trails. Good place to take a map & compass and bushwhack to practice navigation skills.

Jesse Pena reviewed North Dome and Sherill Bushwhack

I completed this route in 2016 as I worked towards my Catskill 35s. The steep ascent up North Dome was enjoyable and strenuous; some views to be had in the right season. This is a great hike to test your newbie navigation skills. The hike up Sherrill is also strenuous but shorter.

I hiked this in May 2015, along the lake first then up the mountains. Phenomenal views of Lake George. I remember the trail markers were hard to follow on the way up; lots of blow-down between peaks. I made a weekend of it; camping by the 5th Peak Lean-to. Great perch. Like another comment, this is definitely around 15 miles.

Completed the full Escarpment trail 3 weeks ago, 2 days 1 night. Awesome trail, great views, a real grind. I traveled south to north (left a car at 23/Elm Ridge parking). Going the other way would be just as strenuous.

I went clockwisw from the southern parking area. Some nice climbs and views. Need to go the other way, UP the steep scramble. Not the hardest 6-ish miles but great hike - There is a re-route at the nothern end when traveling north. Near the lake and entrance after the old road. Its best to take the road south to the orange trail, then rejoin blue.
